rec.autos.simulators

can anyone explain to me how i can view a car that i download from the
internet
without having to phsically put in the game?
i just bought a new computer and am still trying to find my way around
windows 95
(yes i know im way behind)
this process was very easy with the nascar1 cars  but i just cant find a
way to view
the cars i download for n2
i think what i need to know is how & what program do i use to view the
cars
they have a .car extention and are NOT zipped
any help or insight in this matter would be greatly appreciated

It's not possible to view the actual .car files outside of the game,
you have to view them from Nascar2's Driver Info screen.  Nascar2 still
supports importing and exporting PCX files just like Nascar1 did.  For
the player's car, the PCX needs to be named xt_playe.pcx.  Still, most
people have chosen to distribute the .car files in their entirety.
