I have yet another GPL competition I hope you will enjoy.
This one will test overall competitiveness across all 11 original tracks.
Hope to see you there !!!!

I've got a better suggestion, practice ;)
A few people have made your suggestion and I disagree. If your really slow at a
particular track it SHOULD skew the number. The idea is to show overall
competency. The Nurburgring IS a part of gpl, a BIG part, and should have a big
influence on the number.
Look at it this way. Someone once suggested it would be neat to connect all the
tracks together, end to end somehow, to get one really long track. Well that's
what we have, one really long track that has a lap time of 25:20.22
What's your lap time on this track? Don't try to cut it up into sections that
have varying significance.

Hi, Guys --
I am severely math-impaired. So when I saw Eldred's query above about
Phil's handicap, it had me go back and check my math, and I discovered a
mistake I commonly make -- and maybe some of you do, too.
Remember, one minute equals 60 seconds, so when you're totaling, you've got
to be careful (at least I do) when "carrying over" from the seconds column
to the minutes column. For example, when you add :40.00, :50.00, and
:30.00, the sum is 2:00.00 -- not 1:20.00 -- which is how I did it when I
added hurriedly.
Kurt
Sincerely hoping you're all not as bad at math as I am.
So looking at it this way...
<snip>
<snip>
All the times should come from one marque. If you can't cut up this "track"
into sections, you surely shouldn't switch cars while doing a "lap".
Roger
My handicaps were quoted in seconds. In minutes they are as follows:
Without Ring: +0:52.13 mins (52.13 secs)
With Ring: +2:07.89 mins (127.89 secs)
This of course means that I'm a better driver than you because I can drive
the Ring faster <g>
Back to the track....
Cheers
Phil

My maths was fine unfortunately.

I'm just lazy. I exported my data to html then cut n pasted it into excel.
Not much use if you don't have a spreadsheet though :-)

Seriously, I sometimes think I may be the only liberal arts major in this
newsgroup!

Well, I studied physics, work in a supermarket, and hope to supplement my
income by selling some of my artwork one day. I can't use spreadsheets
properly, but I can drive them just enough to do some basics... pretty
much the same way I drive GPL :-)

It's just a visual concept to see gpl as a whole. And why not ? The
included replays were done using mostly the Lotus, but there are
couple Eagle and one Ferrari lap. Choose your best weapons Roger,
they did.

After plucking another 3.xx seconds off my Ring time on the 1st serious
attempt in a long time (8:22.79, hardly sub 8 minutes material yet :-) I'm
now the proud owner of a -1.31s handicap :->
Andrew "it may only be little but it's the right side of zero" McP
Welcome to the "Sub Zero" club Andrew, although I'm not quite
qualified to greet you as I'm still +0.06 away.
