Turn the aids OFF?  Please - I can barely get around the track as it IS...
I don't remember what helps I have on, though...

I bought the motorwheel from http://www.ergenic.com/.
It's cheap, it's plastic, but it works far better than a joystick or
wheel imho.

I found the mouse worked fantastic for GP3..  It was the best method for
going to add/remove programs and getting it off my hard drive. <VBG>

Barging in Todd, My TM aka Guillemot FFB Joystick works great with
SBK2000 & SBK2001.. fwiw...

| Eldred,
|
| If you find a good control setup for SBK2001, please let me know. I
| love the game but I haven't found the perfect controller for it yet. I
| have tried my Logitech wheel, my Sidewinder FF joystick, my Sidewinder
| gamepad, and my old Interact handheld wheel/gas trigger stick and none
| seems perfect.

How much was that?  The English part of the website isn't very descriptive...

What problems did you have with the Sidewinder joystick?  I'd think that would
work fairly well...  I don't remember which joystick I have (I bought it to run
a league race on a laptop while out of town), but I know it's not FF.  Maybe
that's the difference?  I'll let you know what I discover.

But it's easier to train yourself to be easier on the controls than to be in
trouble because you CAN'T react fast enough.  IMO...

If you told me that, I simply wouldn't believe you<g>

I need to install my USB joystick.  I wonder if I can use it at the same time
as my TSW pedals...?
(project for the weekend, I guess)

I moved from a T2 (non-FF wheel with combined axis) to a TM-FF (FF with
split axis) and I may have lost up to 2 seconds per lap.  I'm sticking
with the TM-FF though :)

Reasons for the loss of time:

1. Without FF, you can pretty much react instanteously to the car.
Similar to a joystick.

2. I only race GPL once a week, so I might be a bit rusty.  I certainly
think more about not upsetting the car so actions from #1 aren't
required.

Jason.

The main problem that I had is that there is too much travel in the
stick. If you go from turning full left to full right, the top of the
stick travels about 5 inches or so. I was unable to make turns quick
enough in SBK, even when grasping the stick by the base to reduce the
amount of travel as much as possible.

That sucks.  It sounds like you never found a calibrate routine to make the
required travel less.  I though I'd just missed it, but maybe one doesn't
exist.  If it's using the Windows calibration, maybe you could create a
seperate controller ID.  Have that one calibrated for less travel to produce
lock-to-lock steering...  Hmmm...
