Hi Ken, the F3 cars require a completely different approach to that of
the F2/F1 cars..
Firstly, because of their low power to weight ratio they are
inheritantly loose in the back end.
For any new comers to the F3 cars, i strongly suggest going with the
Ferrari as it has the best and most forgiving handling, with very good
pickup and a reasonable top end of all the F3 cars.
With the F3's Ken, try making the rear end a bit softer than the front
end, that also applies to the stabilizer bars, springs and dampers.
Also keeping the brake bias at around the 52 to 55 mark will improve
braking distances dramatically in the F3's.
Also at Monza, you will get more top speed with a taller gear ratio in
4th than the default. Anothe thing with Monza as well, try and take
the 1st Lesmo in 2nd gear and change up to 3rd gear before the 2nd
Lesmo and hold 3rd gear through the 2nd Lesmo. It is quicker that way
than changing down to 2nd.
Bump up the tire pressures a bit too Ken, to about 22-23 all round.
If you want more in depth info on the F3's setup characteristics, drop
me a line.
PS. The best times at Monza in the F3 cars are in the: 1:52.***
bracket, though if you can break into the 53's, you will be on the
podium if you keep it together..
Cheers,
Ron
