Trans-Am sim?

It may not be as popular a motorsport as F1, CART or NASCAR, but it
is a damn good series, nonetheless. I'm just throwing the idea to see,
out of curiosity, what kind of interest there would be in someone
creating an SCCA Trans-Am simulation.
The cars in the sim can contain all the adjustability features and
whatnot of the actual thing. You can select through the different tire
compounds on a given race weekend, etc. It can be pretty interesting...

Thanks Nick!

Trans-Am is a great series. Close racing, top drivers, it's great. I
think it's a good idea, or at least Tony Johns (da man) could get his
people to create a Trans-Am car set to satisfy us road racing types.

Hi, I think it is a damn good idea, as I have been a big car fan all my
life.

Licensing fees to SCCA (which own's the Trans-Am name) and maybe even to Chevy
(which may have exclusive rights to the name) may have something to do with it
as well.

Al,
I have no doubt that the SCCA would not be foolish about the licensing
fees. Anything to get their name out would be fine with them, I'm sure.
Secondly, I don't believe that anybody has rights to the Trans-Am name
because anytime I have ever seen it printed I have not seen a copyright
next to it.

Sorry, I'm not that old ;) Seriously, one I hear Trans-Am I think of a
good, close racing series that would be the grounds for an excellent
sim.
I suppose, though, that my love of road racing is clouding my vision. I
mean, when was the last time you saw an IMSA sim, you know? The
companies are in it to make money. That's not a problem, but for those
of us who like these niche series, it leaves us kind of out in the dark.
Oh well, that's why I'm a computer science major at Clemson- so I can
grow up and write the cool games that no one will now :)

Trans-Am is a registered trademark of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).
Pontiac uses it WITH permission (and financial compensation).

Just like NASCAR is a registered trademark, you rarely see the attribution.

SCCA would grant permission, I'm sure, for a small financial compensation.

The main problem with a TransAm sim is that the series is dying.  Chevy is
pulling their support for next year.  I see the future of road racing in
SuperTouring.  BTW, I love the GTPs and Group Cs too!
