N2 Patch Solution Was False Alarm

Unfortunately, the patch really is a pile of trash.  After
re-installing N2, I had the patch working perfectly for about 30
minutes of racing.  Then, the familiar sudden lurch to the right came
back.  So, I'm trashing the patch and re-installing the original N2.
It's obvious that people on the net are the only ones who can produce
worthwhile and reliable patches for this product.  Papyrus can bite me
and everyone else that is getting screwed by this sorry-ass excuse for
a patch.  What a goddamn joke.  I can't wait to hear the whining
excuses from those cheap bastards at Papyrus.

I'm not sure what reasoning you have for this continued whining....the
patch works, i have seen nothing of any of these problems...no green
screen no lurching...the only problem i seem to have is that i suck at
this game...if you have a problem, look for an answer...there are others
with the problem too, BUT if it were the PATCH's fault we would ALL see
it , not just the select group that seems to be affected...so stop
whining about papy and sierra, and play the game...find out WHY you seem
to have this lurch instead of venting your frustration on here...we dont
need to see it, really, i have enough of my own.

TrenT,

In case you've been in a coma for the past week, there are dozens of
people having the same problem with the N2 patch.  We're not all using
the same machines, so it IS a problem with the patch.  Stop whining?
Hmmm,  I am a PAYING customer of Sierra, so I have every right to
*** when its product does not live up to expectations.  Trust me,
the company I work for makes damn sure that customers are satisfied,
at all costs.  They are buying our products and they expect very high
quality, which is something that my company is known for.  That's
partly why my company is one of the most successful in the world in
its area.  It's about time that Sierra did the same thing.

Ok, well let me say it " S L O W L Y "

If you don
't want to hear / read about the problems we are reporting, place us in
your KILL file, skip the message, or just stay away.

We like the game, we BOUGHT the game, we want the game to WORK correctly on
OUR systems. We will continue to report problems with the game. Granted,
some people don't have much in the way of tact, but that's just a fact of
life.

An unpatched game does not have the lurch, a patched game does.  Try real
hard to figure out what introduced the problem on OUR systems.  You can
even think " slowely " if you need to.

Because the " patch " introduced a problem with a lot the current users.
Not all, but a lot.  If you are one of the unaffected, then consider
yourself lucky.

Yes, the patch runs and terminates normally IF the files it is patching are
unaltered.  This isn't a problem. The problem is with some of the files
that were patched.  After successfully patching the game, on some systems,
mine included, there is a definate lurch that occurs randomly on al the
tracks.  On my system, the lurch happens more frequently when running
through Win95, but even in DOS the lurch is still present.   Again, if this
isn't happening to you, be happy.

This is a what some people would call a dumbass statement.  I wouldn't
presume to call you a dumbass, but after making a statement like that,
there are those that would think you fit the description.  Do you think
that everyone everywhere has the same exact system configuration?  That is
what you are implying.  There are all kinds of differences between systems.
Just because they are IBM compatable doesn't mean that they are identical.

And what select group are you referring to?

Some people do have an abrasive way of expressing their dissatisfaction
with the patch.  Some who are having no problems with the patch are just as
bad when talking about the " whiners ".  But since this does seem to be the
place to let the guys from Papyrus know about problems with the " sim ",
you will continue to see people " venting " in this newsgroup.   As to
playing the game, for some it is almost an impossibility. This is where the
" venting " comes froms.

 ^^^
" We " is actually a rather large word.  Have you appointed yourself as
spokesman for R.A.S.? If not, then I belive that "I" was the word you were
looking for.

Imagine this if you will.  Game company "X" releases a game.  The game
acts normally on some some systems, and won't run at all on others.  Should
the ones with the problems just wait for the company to fix the bugs?  If
they don't say something, the Company "X" thinks the game is working great,
and goes on to create another game.

No, I simply don't understand the unbelievable lack of civility on the
part of a large portion of the posters to this group...they complain in
derogatory ways about things that either A they cant change or B they
CAN fix but haven't had the courtesy or patience to check on in the rest
of the group postings... I know alot of people have had this lurching
problme, but as I said once before if it were unfixable in some way in
your system EVERYONE would see it...as it stands half the people with
teh problem seem to have corrected it why cant the rest? I've skipped
half the posts even dealing with the lurch due to the fact that most
aren't helping in ANY fashion, they are only pissing and moaning about
something again...all I would like to see is the whining stopped and a
decent discussion/question/answer forum get moving... is that too much
to ask? or am I going to have to sleep with someone to get that too? go
figure...

N2 is the single best nascar sim out there, enjoy what you have and try
to fix what gives you trouble, stop pissing about it, no-one gives a
damn how many ways you can flame someone. there is a group for flaming,
go post there..

I don't think EVERYONE is having this so called LURCH problem when
installing the patch.  I installed the patch the first day it came out
and have been racing almost every day for about 2 hours  at a time and
it has never happened to me once.  The only time I LURCH TO THE RIGHT IS
WHEN DALE EARNHARDT RAMS ME WHEN I TRY TO PASS HIM ON THE OUTSIDE.
Hehehehe.  I had to add that in there.  I don't know what the problem
is.  Hopefully you will find a way to fix it.  Happy Racing.

Well we ALL have this problem, except some little luckys who have not
the car lurching right.  It's bizarre 'cause everybody that have
problems with the patch doesn't have the same configuration of the
computer and Nascar2.  I have minimal installation and
Dos-installation.  I have a MadCatz (don't laught at me, one of the best
quality/price wheel), and I didn't calibrated my wheel by the W'95
joystick menu.  So there's something that we all have in common but
nobody know what it is.  Maybe that's what we should all thihnk about.
i hope that more and more person will post their PC specs. to know what
we have in common and what the luckys who don't have problems have in
common.  And also I don't have the NC***te problem.  So 90% of N2
simracers have a kind of problem with the patch.  Thanks a lot,
