running 1.2.

It's *supposed* to fix the problem, and it doesn't.  The glide wrapper is
the real fix.

I installed this also yesterday, and indeed, on my system the texture
problems are gone also :)
Only problem is that the menu screen is now not full screen anymore,
more like 1/3 of the screensize, but it's more than worth it.

Andre, there's a switch in the INI file for "full screen" mode or
some such.  Read the docs and the INI fully.

My question:  So, is using that humongous overhead mirror a "cheat"
on par with the F10 view or swapping engines?  Will GPL-purists boo me
off the track?

OTOH, as my buddy and I figured out, get that big honkin' mirror at
*just* the right angle and you get a ton of downforce...  :)

nothing to be frightened of, and no limit, any fool could get into
a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark

Fair enough, it worked for me though.

I  get  a  solid  36  fps at  1024 except  on  the  grid.   All  ahead
boxes  checked  except  driver  arms.  Cars  only  in  mirrors.
Quality  and  effects  all  checked except AA.   Detail  slider a  tad
left  of center.  Mirror  detail  full  and  trackside  objects
full.   Sounds  at  16.   At  monza  with AI  at  19  I  get  25  on
the  grid  and  get  to  36  about  1/2  way  to  T1.  There is  a
slight  drop  in  heavy  traffic.

Hmm...I only get 22 fps on the grid with the same settings.  I actually have
the detail slider farther left.  Something must be funky with my system.  I
have a K63-400, 96MB, V3 AGP and SBLive.  I should at least be getting a little
better(if not a LOT) framerate than you... :(

Two  things  which  might make  a  difference,  I have  a  pdpi  game
card  which  is  worth  a  couple  fps  and  I  have  vsync  off  on
the  vid  card.   Of  course the third  thing is  mine is  Intel  PII
vs  K6.

I have the PDPI also, and I'd *hope* that a K6-3 would be faster than a
P*II*...<shrug>

While the integer perf of K6-2/3 is very good, the fpu is inferior and
the fpu prolly gets used alot in gpl.  I gave mine to a friend for $35,
start thinking about a worthy home for yours :)

Well, I'm considering a new system, but it wouldn't be fiscally responsible
right now... :(
