too little too late ;-)

I'm considering buying a g25, but still am rather happy with my dfp
wheel and the usb-converted TSW2 pedals. I find the g25 shifter a little
too plasticky in its feel. I'll probably get one when the dfp finally
breaks (it self-repaired like the famed McLaren car about half a year
ago ;-).

Cheers, uwe

Yeah, the shifter is definitelly the weak spot.  I haven't used mine in 6
months and just use the paddle shifters, which are excellent.

Me too. It's a shame but it's just too "vague" a shifter for me to use
with the pattern and not worth the effort as a sequential compared to
using the paddles. Maybe if I built a rig to position it closer to a
real shifter, but for now i'll just use the paddles...

How do they differ from lgs500?

Mine already works in Vista and was labelled as a Vista driver
when I downloaded...?

Rod.

And the two motor force feedback is so incredibly good, it makes the
quality of the shifter irrelevant, in my opinion.

I would kick myself if I waited too long and they were not available
anymore.

:)

(I still don't ever see your posts on the Giganews newfeed Uwe; only
when someone quotes you.)

Something else is bound to follow suit ;-) I'm still waiting for prices
to drop a little, and with the upcoming pci-e upgrade (from AGP) I think
I have other places to throw my money as long as the DFP / TSW pedal set
holds up.

That's weird indeed. My posts arrive at google news just fine, so maybe
you'd want to contact your newsmaster at giganews, forward them the
article id and headers and ask them why the post never made it into
their servers. You never know what other good stuff you might be
missing! ;-D

All the best, uwe

If they would ever give us a centering utility for the POTS in the shifter,
it could be made useful.

Frankly, gated shifting doesn't make a lot of sense these days unless you
are running Nascar racing games.  No one else uses them in real life for the
most part.

The Sequential mode of the shifter is hosed because they used analog pots
instead of buttons for engagement, and they are not alignable.  I've gone
through two shifters for the same reason.  Pushing forward to go up a gear
takes 3 times the travel as pulling back to downshift a gear, and in a lot
of cases the pull back doesn't 'satisfy' the pot reading algorythm, I miss
the downshift, and off into the tire wall I go.  It's especially bad for
corners that require several fast downshifts at once, like a hairpin at the
end of a long straight.

We need a utility to calibrate the shifter.  It only needs one button that
says:

"THE DAMNED SHIFTER IS IN THE CENTER POSITION.  CENTER THE DAMNED POTS NOW!"

Really, is that too much to ask for :)

The labeling of 5.0 as Vista compatible was totally bogus.  If you got them
to work (including the profiling software), it was a genuine miricle.

It feels like buttons. No ambiguity on mine.

Maybe open up the unit and see what's interfering. Do you have the mode
switch turned the full half turn ccw?

I don't use the profile software, but the wheel has been working
flawlessly since I installed the driver.

Cheers,
Rod.

Apart from hundreds of racing series, from Caterhams to historics.

Never had a problem with mine, dear boy.

Holy crap, stop shouting. Maybe then you could hear the CLICK that's
coming from the shifter while shifting. It's buttons, nothing but buttons.
And they are working great here. How did you setup the G25 in rF without
noticing the actions named "Joy1 B9" etc.??
