F12001 - LWFF and Act-Labs pedals?

by Rick Baumhaue » Sun, 25 Nov 2001 10:47:54

Has anybody gotten this combo to work?  I have both (plus the shifter)
plugged into USB ports, and I've tried changing controller IDS to every
possible combo, but the game will not acknowledge the existence of the
pedals.  Worked fine with CH Pedals plugged into the game port, but no luck
so far with the Act-Labs.

Thanks for any pointers - keep hearing raves about the patch, but I
basically can't drive it :^(

Tried unplugging my gameport joystick, but that didn't do anything.  Didn't
think to unplug the shifter :^p

Thanks Neil!

Rick,

I'm still struggling, too (see my response to Pat Dotson's profiles, above).

I've gotten the game to work with both the TM/Guillemont Ferrari setup, and
a "homebrew" consisting of the old red-rim LWFF and a pair of TSW pedals
(plugged into the pedal-port on the side of the wheel assembly), both using
one USB port.

My problem is that, even with the dead zone set to *true* zero (w. DXTweak),
not 5%, the steering still feels vague around TDC.  If I set the steering
ratio lower or the X-axis sensitivity higher, the car is hopelessly
squirrelly.  There seem to be two probs: 1. the linearity (called "steering
sensitivity"in the game) feels like it oughtta go a lot higher than 100, and
2. the dead zone feels like it oughtta go a lot lower than zero (there still
seems to be quite a bit of lag between turning your wheel and seeing the
onscreen wheel respond...and the onscreen wheel represents what's really
happening at the road wheels).

Speaking of "less than zero," you do know, dontcha, not to set the FF FX to
+100, but more like -100 (or at least somewhat on the negative side; I'm
working w. abt. -65% now)?  Hopefully, Pat Dotson's profiles will help tame
the beast.

All in all, I have to say the patch is a HUGE improvement!  Thanks, EA (or,
rather, ISI; EA accepts no responsibility for the patch).
