TOP 100 - HAWAII

Drivers:

The IVGA is going to publish the TOP 100 HAWAII Statistics
using the David Martin Software and the Hawaii Racing Logs.

We have started with a number of ways to sort the data and
we are looking for many more suggestions to make the information
even better.  We hope to keep the information up to date.

Stop by the TOP 100 page

Its under construction so the information will change.

Personally I dont think that 20 or 50 races is enough and
I will lobby at least to add more minimum races for the
veteran drivers.  I would also suggest that races with
0 to 9 drivers are not important...  And those statictics
should be deleted or moved down to a secondary page of links.

OK... Dave Sparks and Eric Busch ... Lets hear from you...

TOP 100 - HAWAII

by Eric T. Busc » Thu, 12 Jun 1997 04:00:00

It's been quite some time since I've raced on Hawaii (I have other things
to spend my money on besides LD charges) so I honestly don't have much of
an opinion about the rankings.  I do want to point out that racing only at
Talladega isn't a magic way to become a high skill level.  True it's
probably the easiest track to win or at least place in the top five, but I
would also argue it's the easiest track to finish last at as well.  A car
with any damage just isn't going to win.  Back when I was racing, it too
quite a bit of skill to dodge all of the moron drivers that seemed to
populate the majority of pickup races.

Don, doesn't this reward the "win at all cost" type driver?

You place no value on finishing second or third etc.

Eric,
I would like to point out that if you only race Talladega, where the
fields can get 25+ more than not, you would have a better chance to make
points if you finish in the top 10.

Sure the fields are larger, but from my experience it's still a valid test
to skill to be able to stay alive and finish in the top 30% with the close
fast racing that Dega naturally creates.

Its not what the IVGA thinks we just put this information up as
a service.  These statistics are provided by using the Dave
Martin Analysis program and the Hawaii Logs..  I guess you
think we shouldnt publish theses at all..

Don,

I just think that you should increase the minimum races run
to 100 or 200.  Having a minimum race of 20 to 50 just makes
any hopes of getting stats to look at hopeless.  I mean, 20 to
50 race minimum throw's alot of the " I raced till Mom and Dad
got the first phone bill and realized what was going on" statistics.

Just my opinion,

With all due respect, Don, the list never changes much. The same
names are on the list every time one is published, or talked about.
I finished applauding for them a year ago..my hands hurt!

Shawn:

Yes we do think alike..

I believe that we will have some classes added like:

ARCA/NOICE     50-100 races
BUSCH/AMATEUR  101-400 races
WINSTON/PRO    300+

Something Like that...

Gavel:

I agree..  Thats why I think adding the categories like
NOVICE/AMATEUR/PRO will give us some new faces to watch.

Thanks for your input

That means that Darrel Cherry (and others like myself) will be rated as
amateurs.

If Sparks and Cherry are amateurs, so is Dale Earnhardt...
