GPL improves my SODA driving :)

Just for fun I reinstalled SODA.  It's a snap to drive now, and lots of
fun.  Shame about the graphics.

I remember thinking it was a bastard to drive when I first got it, but
after sliding GPL cars around the 'Ring, somehow it's quite natural now.

Truly unappreciated.  Maybe if it'd had D3D and/or MTM2 like graphics it
would have sold big time.  Who knows.  Another fine engine gone to waste.  I
always thought that a Rallycross game based on SODA would have been superb.

Cheers,

Yes, I agree.  Last August, I bought an old Hercules Thriller 4MB PCI for my
older PC just to play SODA in Rendition (I was also hoping to use it to
finally see what ICR2 looked like in 3D, but couldn't get it to work).

: I reinstalled SODA recently too, and had the same reaction.  Despite the
: somewhat dated, blocky, low-res graphics, it seems that SODA has a
: terrific physics engine.

But what's really fun for the geek in me is to run it stealth-like in a
tiny 320x240 window on my desktop.  It's like a mixture of GPL and
Re-Volt.  It helps pass the time between tedious finite-element analysis
runs.

By the way, I was astonished to read somewhere that Software Allies was a
two-man show.  In that context, the product is real nice.  Wonder what
Software Allies is up to now.

Brian--

ICR2 (CART Racing) looks awesome in Rendition mode.  I'm holding off
upgrading my Stealth II/Voodoo2 combo for as long as I can so I don't
lose 3d ICR2 and SODA.

I noticed at Wal-Mart the other day that CART Racing was sold as a
single CD for $9.95--and it has the Rendition supported version on the
disk.  Once you use the methods on the net for making it work with your
Thriller--it works great.

If you get it, let me know if you have any questions about making it
work with the V2200.  I'll be glad to help somebody else enjoy the
classic that is ICR2.

Thanks for the offer.  I found a couple of sites that have detailed
instructions on how to make it work and I'll give it a go.
