It kinda lost it's soul now with all the FIA safety regulation.  Everything
is much more flattened then before.

they did "smooth" it out but it's still a very challenging track and
probably on of the most challenging tracks in the world. All the other great
tracks have been turned into malls/housing or totaly butchered with chicanes
and other slow down methods.
It does look better with the new ashpalt and walls all the way around
though.
All they need is some portable TV's around the track some stands, bridges
and a scoreboard in the inside of Moss corner.
There used to be big stands at the end of the Mario straight.

Let me correct some false statements if I can...

Firstly, CASCAR and NASCAR have little (if anything) in common.  (Sorry but
this particular comparison REALLY irritates me...)

If you MUST make a comparison, CASCAR is more like a 'de-tuned' version of
ASA than anything else.  CASCAR cars have a maximum horsepower of ~420hp as
compared to 720+hp for WC cars in race trim.  They are allowed to run either
a wet sump or dry sump system. They have a shorter wheelbase and use
fiberglass bodies and "stock" suspension pieces, not custom fabricated
pieces.

CASCAR stock cars must weigh 2800 lbs excluding the driver instead of the
3400lbs of a WC car.

For more info spend $20 (Cdn) and buy a CASCAR rule book (www.cascar.com)
then make all the comparisons you want!

ARCA is to Winston Cup what CASCAR is to ASA...

Hope this helps dispel some of the myths...

Cheers,
Mike

hmm.. Sorry if the comparision got you iritated. :(

It was just a generalization between the two. No sense going into exact
numbers, sorry if that bothered you.

There is a lot in common between the two though, they are both tubed race
cars and you can see them racing each other in the Canadian GT Challenge
Cup. :)

no sense getting your panties in a knot.

This is sad... I was really praying for a safe racing season all
around after Earnhardts death.  This, like DE's accident was one of
those things that happens once every 10,000 times (or more).  The past
2 years have been tragic.  Eventually something good will come from
all of this.
