[F'up2 set to rec.autos.simulators]

This is a common misconception. (Due of course to the Doom/Quake/Duke/

GP2 doesn't use the FPU at all. At the time it came out most if not
all simulators did fine with integer calculations. Only fairly recently
did they start using FP instructions, and the intel chips only do better
there because these games are optimized for them. (This is an oversimpli-
fication, but mostly true.) On GP2 you'll be fine with any modern AMD,
Cyrix, or Intel CPU, not sure about IDT/Centaur. It's also not very sen-
sitive to your graphics card, as long as it's fairly recent. No 3D-accel-
eration though.
It's got 3D acceleration and a little more realism than GP2 WRT graphics,
allegedly a little less in some other aspects, more again in others; at the
end of the day it's prolly a matter of taste. Just got it the other day,
but haven't had time to try it out yet.
Note: This is *not* F1 from Psygnosis, which is more of an Arcade style
thingie, with pretty but dog ass slow 3D graphics. (Judging from the demo
that came with my Pure3d.) It's the kind of thing that you'll like if you
like that kind of thing...
Also note that GP3 is allegedly set to come out late(r?) this year.
