GP2 ET4000 -> ET6000 ????

by LARS ANDERS » Sun, 13 Oct 1996 04:00:00

Hi

I just got a Cyrix P166+ and it helped me to use svga in GP2

But more wants more <G>, as I found out that you get better
control with a framerate of about 19 fps.

So now I am wondering :

Would it help my framerate if i scrapped my old ET4000 W32i card
for a ET6000 ???

Has anyone made the change, on a system smilar to mine ?

Regards
Lars

Usually a processor upgrade speeds up the system considderably more. If you
cannot put a faster CPU, bad luck.
OK, in your case, this could be more expansive than a new VGA. In mine it
wasn't.

I changed board and CPU but stuck to my old ISA VGA. My AMD5k86/100 is as fast
as my brother's P90 with SPEA P64 Mirage (S3 chip) under GP2. Maybe the board's
doing a good job aswell. But My impression is that one should try and get a
faster CPU as long as there's a faster one which fits.
