this patch? It calls for some tracks to be converted from Indy Car 2
and such. Anywhere I can download the tracks ready to add to the
calender?

I really want to make the plunge into VROC. Two things I know for certain from
scouring the faq and tech stuff ...
I need to replace my winmodem, and it looks like the Multi-Tech USB that Alison
tested would be a good bet and would improve performance.
I need to replace AOL with another ISP. No problem. I'll have to junk a few
thousand business cards, but what the hell?
Beyond those "knowns," I have a Gateway PII 233 with (presently) 32 megs of RAM
and an 8-meg Voodoo II. I'm willing to give up some detail to race. I'd
prefer not to get a new processor.
Am I dreaming in my VROC quest? Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Warm regards

Go back to Http://www.theuspits.com and check under the Nascar pages and
look for the utilities there. There's a nominal ($15) fee for the track
converter, but it works great. and it's a small price to pay for Jan and
the boys (otherwise free) hard work.

If you don't do ANYTHING else, upgrade to AT LEAST 64mb of RAM (the more
the better). Next, get the fastest CPU you can afford and that is usable
on your motherboard.

Thanks for your response, John. I'm off today to get more RAM. And maybe
you'll have me to lap sometime soon. I really want to hold off on a processor
upgrade, because I find I can get frame rates in the 30's with some detail
turned off and as many as 14 drivers. That, with some more RAM and a USB
modem, will get me racing, I think.
With a little luck, you'll be lapping me in no time!
Thanks again,
Kurt
