How and Where to get INDY!!!

Ok, here goes!

There was a new software bundle released, called "Racing's greatest thrills" or something, with the picture of the nose of Adrian Fernandez's
car on the front.  Not only does it have a load of stuff, it contains THE COMPLETE TRACK PACK!!

Schweet, huh?

Anyway.. I'm now enjoying Indy...

I'll verify this on Monday, but I do not believe that Indy is included
in the "Racing's Greatest Thrills" bundle.  Part of our agreement with
IMS is that the track needed to be sold separately.  It does, however,
include the "7 Track Pack" for IndyCar 1.x and all of the tracks from
IndyCar Racing 1.x... I'm pretty sure IMS is not there, though.

If anyone else can prove me wrong before I get back in the office on
Monday, please comment.

I hope it is there!

Ed Martin is correct.  "Racing's Greatest Thrills" does not contain
the indy track pack.  It does have indycar 1 and the additional 7
tracks, and a couple of other games, and a demo of icr2 and nascar,
but no indy track.  I almost bought it because I wanted to convert the
indy track to use with icr2, but luckily I asked the salesperson at
computer city and he told me that it does not have it.  Nowhere on the
box does it mention the indy track.  The 7 additional tracks are
tracks other than indy.  The box is also misleading, because it
implies that the bundle also has a complete version of icr2 and
nascar, but in fine print on the back, it says something like an
enhanced version, which is a demo.

Well, this is kind of on the same wavelength.  I was looking at some
web pages last night and I came accross this quote:

"Due to the National Information Infrostructure Copyright act of 1995,(NIIC),
Software in which the copyright is older than 2 years and is no longer sold
on the market has been deemed available free to the public, due to
'the seemingly uselessness of outdated technology as stated in the (NIIC)'".

Now, if this is true, and the copyright is in 1993 or early 1994 for the
Expansion Pack, people can legally put this on their website for downloading

I think I can answer this.  Papyrus' copyright may have expired due to
the terms of software copyright law (I am not sure about this), but
the issue at stake is not Papyrus software copyright, but their
licensing agreement with Indianapolis Motor Speedway -- which does not
fall under the terms of that quote.

Ok , I give up I am sick of looking for this add-on. I can live without
INDY but, and this is a big but , I REALLY want the paintkit the comes
with it. Is there any way Papyrus can let us have it. I was really upset
that it was not on the CD-ROM I bought last fall. The only reason I bought
ICR1 was because I loved Nascar and figured maybe this was as much fun.
Well is wasn't because I couldn't let my creative juices flow. I know I
should buy ICR2 and I will get the paintkit but for now I would like to
use ICR1 just to learn about how to set up an IndyCar.How about it, I
can't imagine that IMS owns the rights to paintkits do they?

How can you license a product on which the copyright has expired?

But the expansion pack is still available on the market, or at least
until a few weeks ago.  So, the "and is no longer sold on the market"
has not yet expired as several distrinutors have it in stock, but not
being sold as to no retailers ordering it.

The license is not the software, the license is for the track itself &
the organization which owns the track.
