I take it you pulled it down and it's setting on your file server?
you could unzip it and re-zip it to split onto several disks, then
take them home and put it back together... (just a thought)

of if you're fortunate enough to have a tape backup drive that is
compatible with any tape backups attached to your network (i.e.
workstations), you could copy it to the workstation, backup to your
own tape, then you have it.

or remote access to your file server by chance??

Okay...  It's a demo.  They haven't finished the coding yet.  While they
develope the code they are running it on Pentiums.  Once the have it
running the way they want it (with only a few annoying bugs), they will
compile it so it can run on other processors.  If they spent all of
their time tweaking a DEMO to run on various processors, we would never
see the final product (at least not this year).

I agree that not being able to provide a demo that can run on the varied
hardware systems available is not the wisest choice.  But, they had to
make a decision.  Demo with a Pentium only code or no demo at all.
Since I have a Pentium, I think they made the right choice.  If I had a
486, Cyrix, or AMD, I would be GREATLY disappointed.  I guess you will
just have to pretend that they decided to not release a demo.  I know
this doesn't help you or others in the same boat.  But, remember, by not
taking the time to work on the demo, you will be receiving a product
that will run on your machine that much sooner.  Hope that helps some.

Us 486 owners are history, according to software companies. I upgraded to a
486dx4/100 last May and for my then-fast system to be obselete to play any
new games (EA, Sierra, etc.) is disgusting. If upgrading a 486 meant just
swapping a $150 chip out, I wouldn't mind, too much, but to upgrade a 486,
you need a new motherboard, video card (PCI) and probably more RAM chips.
Add it up and we're looking at $300 minimum to play a game or two? And then
in a year, the software companies bump up the required platform even
higher. It would be nice to upgrade to a PPro200 now and spend over a grand
and not worry about anything for 2 or 3 years, but who has $1000 just lying
around for this?

I sure hope so. The main thing I want Nascar2 for is the more realistic
qualifying method. I'm satisfied with the current game's graphics. They are
saying a 486/66 with 12MB of RAM will run the finished product in low-res
at least. Let's hope so. Meanwhile, save up or put an upgrade on the
Christmas list.  :(

Hi Rich,

I agree. We 486 users were the first to purchase NASCAR Racing when
Pentium was just being released (with the famous chip error). Now we are
unable to play the Demo that we have been awaiting with baited breath.
I'm not sure how much loyalty Papy / Sierra have to the original
customers. If us 486 users hadn't run out to tell all the Pentium users
what an awesome game NASCAR was they wouldn't have bothered makind a new
version.

I hope that we "original" users are capable of running NR2 without
spending 500+ for upgrades. I have purchased every Papy sim their is as
well as the Track Pack and expect to be remembed as a loyal customer.

Well a twelve year old musta' typed this but, I'll reply anyway.
 You gota be joking, right?
Thats the most ubsurd post I've ever read! You guys are amazing. Do you
really
think anybody gives a rat's ass about your 486?! Your raggin' Papyrus?
If your such a "loyal" customer you should be wipin' their ass for
working as hard as they do to
produce quality, realistic games. You think their gona wait around and
still produce
games that require some neanderthal's 486?! In your dreams!! We've all
busted our asses'
to buy upgraded hardware and most of us have owned 486's. Get outa the
stonage and get a job!

Face it, This is an expensive hobby, so as a "original" user you'll have
to stay with
the "original games!

I have purchased every Papy sim their is as
Loyal my ass! get a life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately Indy and Daytona were also in the calender file in NCR1, and
from what I've heard will not be released initially with NCR2 but they've
hinted that there may be a 2 track Track Pack early next year when Sega's
rights run out on Daytona.  We can only cross our fingers!

On the interview with Adam Levesge (however it's spelled) on allgames.com
he mentions that 8 tracks were completely re-done and the other 8 were
improved.  He states that there are no new tracks.  Sigh.  OH well.  Track
Pack jr???????
