Well, I ordered from their online shop in Holland (I think) to save money,
rather than go hunting in the New Year sales, hence why I couldn't return it
within an hour.

Forget it - next time, I'll just p*ss and moan on here like the
majority....was only trying to help :-(((

It used to be that newsgroup etiquette meant that you didn't include a bunch
of previous replies in yours (saves storage space and bandwidth) and if you
had to include part of it to make your point, you always posted ON TOP (it's
the same etiquette that says using cap letters is shouting).
Besides, it's just common courtesy. Nobody wants to scroll though 2 pages of
a previous post only to get to the bottom and read "agreed".
Posting on the bottom was considered rude and lazy. It's easy enough to put
up with if the poster is someone who's opinion you value and you really want
to hear what he has to say, but .....

Logitech warranty support has always been ok, especially if you call them
instead of email them. It's when the warranty runs out that you're out of
luck. At that point, you can send them the wheel (cost about $20?), pay $100
for a replacement plus shipping (another $20?) for a total of about $140, or
just go out and buy another one for $80. (those were my options for a LWFF
at one time)

Well, not a fair comparison perhaps, but after going through hundreds of
e-mails a day at work, all of which have the replies top posted and most of
which are fully quoted, I find it annoying to have to switch gears for a
newsgroup.  Besides, I think the whole bottom posting thing dates back to
BBS days.  Back then we were all severely bandwidth limited and so was the
server.  So we wanted to be able to download only the latest post in a
thread and still be able to reconstruct the thread in order.  That just
isn't necessary any more.

3, then i'd have a spare.

A spare is worth the wait.

It's not bad if you end up with a freebie.

Not that i even mentioned your grandfather, or death, or hospital. Sorry
for your loss.

if you took the time and learned to quote correctly, bottom

One of the other reasons I prefer top posting is that it makes the preview
window so much more useful.  Don't most news readers have this function?  I
have all messages grouped in threads, I mark all messages that I want to
follow, and have the subject view sorted so that all marked threads float to
the top.  Then, with the preview window on, I can simply click on each
message header and the top part of the message shows in the preview pane.
If everyone top posted their reply I would be able to very quickly go
through every new message in a thread, reading the replies in the preview
pane in sequence.  Am I the only one that has figured this out?  This is by
far the easiest way to use a news reader, but bottom posting, even with
minimal quoting, messes it up.  I will not rest until I have converted the
entire Internet.  ;o)

Preview window? What the heck is that? ;-) Never had a need for
it, never will. Using a decent newsreader like slrn is so much
faster than any amount of mouse pushing no matter how hard you
push or how minimal (for me, at least ;-).
