I'm sure this post has been answered numerous times but I never saw the
consensus.

What is the best CART and/or F1 game on the market? I have GPL. I realize
that GPL is a good sim but I was looking for something better.

Thanks for any input.

Hey Carl,

This is a legitimate post, what the hell is your problem.

Thanks for being a jerk.

For everyone else: I'm still looking for some feedback, thanks, just ignore
this jerk.

Its a bit of a silly question really as no-one will agree.  IMO there is
nothing better than GPL at the minute.  F12002 is the best alternative in my
opinion - although it is rubbish with internet play.  There is no current
decent Cart game available.

All the best,

For open wheel racing athenticity, GPL is stil the best IMO, so as for something better, there isn't
anything yet.  The last good CART sim IMO was ICR2, F12001 or 2002 are decent titles, but online
play is terrible, so your choices are very slim.

You may as well stop looking.  GPL is the best and has been the best
since it was released.

Well you all seem to indicate the same thing. I get the point.

I appreciate your feedback.

Thanks and have a good day.

F12002 and N2002 are better than GPL in every way except that GPL has better
multiplay than F12002.

There has yet to be a simulation released that is better then GPL.  Unless
you consider N4 and NR2002 to be so (and it's somehow, true).  All modern
CART and F1 sims have important flaws.

F12002 has no soul.

NR2002 is IMO the best sim currently available, as long as you like the
series. ( I don't particularly like NASCAR racing, but I race in the RASCAR
series and have great fun)

CART is a no go area at the moment as far as sims are concerned. For open
wheel racing you'll need to look towards F1, of which F1 2002 is currently
my pick of the crop, but unless you have at least ISDN and a host with a
very fast connection, forget online play.
A few people here like GP4 but the majority of posts I've seen would
indicate that most prefer F1 2002.

GPL is still amongst the top few sims but a few areas have been surpassed
recently, unfortunately online play has only been beaten by N4 and NR2002.
Other sims worth looking at, though not open wheel are Rally Trophy and
Mercedes Benz Truck racing. Both reasonable sims and fun to play, however I
found myself returning to GPL, NR 2002 and F1 2002 after a short time.

PS. There was a CART mod available for NASCAR Heat (IIRC) but was cancelled
for licensing issues. Maybe someone you know still has a copy ?

Thus, it is a great simulation of Formula 1.

Best modern F1 game is EA's F12002, imo.

I agree about F12002 (Not N2002, but it's not an F1 sim in any case),
but I'll be more specific. IMHO, compared to GPL, F12002 has better
sensation of speed, better graphics, better physics, better force
feedback, tire wear, pit stops, pit-to-car radio, easier
configurability, better AI (they'll actually pass you), and it has
little things that I happen to prefer like a nose cam and automatic
upshifts (but not downshifts), and other nice touches like music and
3-d views in the menus, or the fact that going off track affects your
tires for a lap. GPL is apparently better for multiplay, but I only
play off-line. GPL has better-looking replays, and perhaps a more
interesting car to drive. GPL also has a much nicer online community,
but there are some nice add-ons for F1-2002 as well.

I used to play GPL almost exclusively, but I've switched to F1 2002,
and anytime I try GPL now, it seems grossly inferior. By the way, F1
2002 is also *much* better than F1 2001, which I thought was inferior
to GPL. I can't get GP4 to work even passably on my system (P4 1.5GHz,
768M RAM, but only GF2Mx400), but F1 2002 works very well.
