This sounds interesting, I'll experiment with this, thanks.

And I didn't do this, so perhaps that's why my ff wasn't that good.

I'd be glad if it was so.

The wheel does indeed lighten up, I noticed that even in the demo, but then
try turning it past the optimal  angle and the forces will still increase
instead of staying roughly the same or even decrease. Also, the forces only
depend on how far the wheel is turned, and are always zero when the wheel is
centered (neglecting 'canned' effects). In effect, the FF implementation
seems to work as a modifiable spring, the constant of which depends on the
paramters you describe (speed, kerb riding),

All in all, I'm not buying until I hear for certain that the demo and final
versions FF implementations are different.

I wouldn't say that 'not liking the FF' was a good reason not to buy what
undoubtedly is the best modern F1 sim out there at the moment - but each to
his own!
