And I thought the IVGA was just established so that <name deleted> could
steal all the best setups?  :-)

I joined it so I could get a number to run the HotLap program with.  Ran it
a few times, and even uploaded one.  Never saw it posted, and while it was
not the fastest by any means, it was faster than some of the slowest ones.
Didn't get any sort of response, so I said***it, and deleted the thing
off my computer.  And then all the ***about Papy banning the IVGA members
( please, please, don't save me $500 a year ) and the email started......

Oh, kinda lost track there for a sec...   ANYWAY...... give me back my save
game please.  The only person I could possibly cheat is myself, and I don't
rightly give a hoot.

Again, you are assuming that I want to ' Race by E-mail '.  I don't, and
won't.  Ok, so because the minority of the Nascar racers race in off-line
series, the majority of racers just have to suck it up?  You work for the
affirmative action council or something?  Does this mean that because Pres.
Clinton got more votes, he lost?  If you are so scared that they are
cheating, just quit.

I don't want the old save feature, but I would take it over the current
offering.

The rat bastards cheated, and should be killed.  But please, let those of
us who don't play by e-mail keep some sort of save game.

It seems obvious that NASCAR2 should only contain what *you* want
it to contain, because everyone else's wishes are subordinate to
yours.  I wasn't trying to change your mind, just explain the problems
of a race save.  But you chose to ignore it and go off on a rant since
it doesn't apply to you.  So long as we know where we stand...  ;)

Pick one or more: Model Rockets (competition-NERCB) / PCs (even Atari!) /
Papyrus ICR-ICR2-NCR / Who needs a life when you have multiple non-lives?

Everyone's got a right to an opinion, Michael. You, me, and everyone
else.  With yours stated and mine as well, I won't repeat it.

However, I *wouldn't* mind a save weekend feature so you can qualify,
save it, come back next day "like in real life"

hehehe, I never joined IVGA...

hey, how about a "Save Race Weekend" option? now that sounds useful.
qualify, save it and come back the next day.  (like, qualify on
Friday, race on Saturday or Sunday)

Look around B.H.  I am not the only one who wants it there, not by a long
shot.  And those that don't want it to be there can mostly be put in to two
catagories:

1: Parinoid e-mail racers who are scared someone is going to cheat them out
of a win.

2: Racing purists who don't think it belongs in a SIM ( but advocate the
use of the Pause key...  duh!! )

3: ( He said two!! )  Those who would rather have some other feature
instead.

And the ones who want it are mainly in one large group.

1:  Want to have a regular life and still race the longer races.

Ranting is highly over rated, but it does helps to vent steam when dealing
with certain people.  But then again, there's you!  :-)

You're right, it doesn't apply to me.  And I still can't imagine why you
feel like you should be able to  force the majority of  Nascar racers to do
without this feature, simply because the e-mail racers are a bunch of
cheaters.  ( Your impression, not mine )

So long as we know where we stand...  ;)

Yep, you got what you want, just not for the reasons you wanted it.  Time
vs cheaters .

The rest of us will just have to wait and see, and hope...

At this point, I would take that.  ( Then ask for more, of course :-)  )

No save race part2-READ!!

Hello,

I am reading all these posts about the save game feature, and I must
say I am quite interested.

I never played against any other human players, I have neither the
money nor the time to do it, and I will never do that (at least in
the foreseeable future).
I like the feeling of having a 100% distance race rather than a
"sprint race", but I haven't got the time to do it in just one session.
Leaving the computer in pause and "on" for a few days is obviously
not a choice.
What is my point? I will not buy Nascar 2 if there is not such a
feature. My hope is that by saying so the save game option will be
implemented sooner or later.

I might understand that cheating can occurr in on/offline races due
to this feature, so I would like to know: how many people are involved
in these races compared to how many people buy the game?
Assuming that all the people who do not race on the net wants the save
option (sounds reasonable), then I would say that having
1000 die hard fans of the sim (which will buy it in any case since
that's their everyday bread) against 300000 people who just buy the
game and play on their own, implementing the save game option as soon
as possible seems to be a reasonable thing to do.
Of course I have no clue about the numbers above, and an inversed
ratio would mean that the save game is not such an urgent affair.

Thanks for reading,
Luca
