F1GP/WC: GP Analyser Questions

I've recently started trying to used GPPERF and the GP Analyser program, but have
run into some problems in getting GP Analyser to read the GPPERF file. I.ve been
using the "Practice any Circuit" option to get to know the circuits and to try
different setups. However, in the event that I spin off on a lap, GP Analyser
refuses to read the GPPERF.PRF file at all, giving the message that there is a
segment missing from a lap. I've tried filtering the GPPERF.PRF file and
separating out the laps, but when I try to read one of these files, GP Analyser
gives the message that it can't find the lap number and again refuses to read the
file.

Has anyone else come accross this problem? It's possible that I haven't set up
some option or other, and I would would be grateful for any advice anyone can give
me.

I've installed GP Analyser by first unzipping the gpanyl15.zip file into a
directory, and then unzipping the gpaex317.zip into the same directory, thereby
overwriting the old gpanyl.exe file with the updated version. Could this be
causing my problems?

Yes, I have. If you get of the track in a lap (i.e. touch the grass), the
lap will be incomplete. But even when you stay on the track, it can happen
that you drive (partly) over the pits exit or entry lane. GPAnalyzer doesn't
convert the pit lane segments to real segments. Just drive on the right
side of the yellow line, and you should have no problems. If the lap isn't
complete try reading it with another program like fgraph (after exporting
the perf file with showperf).

No, this is how it should be done.

Hope it will work now.

bye.

The GPanalyzer works in a very simple way; it expects to find a complete
logged lap, or it will barf. Several things can make a lap incomplete:

- Cutting a chicane. Obviously, a lap like that isn't really valid
anyway.

- Accidently touching the grass, often after sliding way up onto a curb.
This is quite annoying.

- Driving over the pit entrance. This is near essential for good times
at a few circuits (Interlagos, Montreal), so this is the single most
annoying problem.

It would be possible in theory to write a program to correct logs
suffering from this problem... but I'm not volunteering.
