| So? I've only gotten 202 mph out of the Eagle on hard (22 psi) tires w. a

22's hard? I only got 203 from the Honda at 30 psi at Smogbank with
zero toe etc...

You really should keep your distance from the car ahead when you draft in
GPL, 2 car lengths minimum.

I agree with that, especially with VROC racing - I was thrown 100ft in
the air at 200mph last night in a race at LM. The driver behind was
tucked into my gearbox and pulled out to pass. Either a slight warp or a
driving error made our wheels touch - BAM!
The crash went on for miles:-)

| How far do you draft with the person ahead? Heck with a slow-arse cooper
I
| was able to go at 202mph :)

tall a final gear ... for Vmax, it is ESSENTIAL to match the peak of yr power
curve (HP, not torque) to yr final gear ... if yr engine is even 300 or 400 RPM
away from it's optimum, the effect will be quite noticeable.
BTW- lazy sod that I am, I've only tried Sarthe w/BrabHonda mongrel ... top
speed 207mph unassisted 8>)

| I was playing around with my setup at LM last night in the Lotus
| trying to see how much speed I could get out of it. There seems to be
| a sweet spot in the gear ratios that will get you just what you need.
| If you choose one click higher (for more acceleration) you will max
| out the motor before you get to top speed (a very bad idea with the
| Lotus.) Doing that gave me a top speed of 195 at redline (just over
| 9300rpm.) Come down a click from the optimum (for more top speed) and
| the car hits the wall of aerodynamic drag where it doesn't have enough
| power to push it any faster through the air and you end up maxing out
| well below redline (about 8700 and 196 or so.) At the sweet spot, I
| hit 198-200 depending on fuel load at around 9100rpm or so.
|
| Again, the physics in GPL never cease to amaze me...
