NR2003-I'm coming out of retirement(Long)

Hey Guys,

I use to be a regular on this newsgroup until my P450 128mb with Voodoo3
2000 became outdated two or three years ago. I then got into R/C car racing
at which I have had a lot of fun.

Now I just bought a new Dell 4600 2.66Ghz and 512 SDRAM. I custom ordered
the 128MB ATI's DDR Radeon 9800 Pro Graphics card. It was their middle of
the road Card listed in their January 2004 catalog . It must be a good card
but a controversial one as their are lots of posts on this newsgroup.

On the NR2003 Demo I get 75-95 fps but I see others in the group getting
over 100fps. How do you tweak the settings for the card or do you tweak the
game's Graphic settings?

Also, how is the multiplayer racing set-up? I see RASCAR must be the
biggest.league?

Final Questions:
What is the best Indy car Simulator?
What is the best F1 car Simulator?  F1C?
What is NetKar?

Thanks in advance for the help to an old-timer starting over ! !

You won't see the difference even if you tweak it to get more,

Run the latest DirectX version and ATI catalyst driver.

Run the game using directX and configure your drivers to run at 4x AA and 8x
Anso and probably 1280x1024.

If your FPS stays over 50FPS even in traffic you'll be set to go with
amazing graphics quality. You may have to disable some graphics options in
the game that really drops heavily the FPS for no real additionnal graphics
goodies.

Don't sweat the 10 fps. Above 40 fps it's as smooth as butter. You've
got a great card. Crank up the eye candy and see what it can do!

I also have just acquired NR2003. I used to race a lot in NR2002,
maybe did about 5 RASCAR races, but lots of open server stuff too.

want to get back into RASCAR if it's still running (last time I read
r.a.s there was a massive argument going on which scared me quite a
bit ;-).

Is RASCAR still around? Do you run converted GPL tracks with DNs
converter? What's the website (it seems to have changed, or my
bookmarks are broken).

Cheers,

Nick
