I installed the full version of F12002 (do I have to load the movies?).  
I then set up the 3D, created a driver and did a lap at Spa.  No problem.

I installed GTR next.  When I double-click on the shortcut or the
executeable for GTR, the screen goes black for a sec, I hear a click,
then I get dumped back to the desktop.  Once, after this happened and I
did Ctrl+Alt+Del to see if it was running and just taking a long time,
there were an entry:
mmtask [not responding].
Another time, when the screen went black, I saw te old fashioned Windows
Media Player logo on screen.

Any clues what the problem might be?

BTW, I am running an up-to-date install of Win98SE with the latest NVIDIA
drivers on a GeForce 3.

   Do you have any extra cars installed?  Did you TEST GTR before
installing the 1.2 patch?   You can try gtrrun.exe and gtrlite.exe as well

GTRun.exe worked, but I couldn't select cars or drivers.  I turned down
the resolution and it works fine now.  :)

Yes, that's a flaw in the 1.2 patch - you have to create a driver profile in
1.0 before installing 1.2
