I wouldn't complain about those numbers, it's good enough considering
the max is 36. I tried FSAA and it was too slow for me (25 or so).
Looks like the Gateway TNT2 card may be proprietary in some way.
Nvidia's reference drivers should work on any Nvidia chipset card.
I expect Gateway is not too prompt about driver updates either so I
would demand that they exchange the card for one that is not
proprietary so that you can get proper driver updates.

I borrowed a Creative Labs TNT2 card from a buddy of mine, and we put in in
with NVidia's reference drivers, and 3.68 in the gpl directory.  Guess what?
Frame rate doesn't drop below 36.  The Gateway site has drivers, but (as you
said) they are a little behind.  All of their drivers load fine, (I tried 3
of them).  I tried several nVidia's reference drivers, and none of them
work.  I REALLY question the Gateway card now.

Yep, give them a call and tell them you are unhappy with the vid card.
Probably tell you tough luck, but they may do an exchange. Worth a
shot anyway.

Traded a guy at work even for a Voodoo 5 5500.  I almost feel guilty--ok,
maybe not :-)

In all fairness, he is doing some development work with openGL.  So in the
long run, he may have the last laugh.

How do you know the frame rates? I can't find the option that switches this
on.

Steve

A TNT2 for a Voodoo5?! What a deal. Wish I had such generous friends.

I was talking about Grand Prix Legends and not F1 2000, which has a
built in FPS counter. Alt+F.

He's one of those that are really, really bright--just no common sense.  I
think we all know somebody like that..

Anyway, the TNT2 is probably a better platform for OpenGL development.  He
comes out ahead on what he wants to do, and I get GPL in 1024x768 with the
detail all the way to the right at 36fps.  We both win!

Did I say it was above 36fps? No, I said it is never below 36fps.
