Grand Prix Legends Demo Under Win XP?

How can I run this?  I tried Win 95 compatability mode, but it does
not work (nor in XP native mode).  I have an ATI Radeon 9700 video
card on my P4 2.66MHz.

I have seen the patches for D3D and Open GL, but D3D is supposedly for
NVidia cards only, and there is no info about the Open GL.

What is recommended?

Thanks

the demo is pre-modern DirectX so I don't recall if it works at all with
the newer OSes.  However the retail version is patchable to be fully D3d
compliant and runable.

From what I've read Ati users seem to prefer the D3D patch to OpenGL, plus
the D3D patch came later, so tends to look prettier to most people's eyes.

I have no idea whether either patch will work with the demo, but give it a
go, it can't hurt ;-)

The full version is very cheap now anyway, and it's well worth getting.

Try installing the CPU upgrade, rasterizer, patch 1.2, and the D3D
patches....I think that's how I got the demo to work with WinXP and my 9700
video card.  Sorry, I don't remember the order I applied them in.  Maybe
someone else here does.

Yup. I distinctly remember I had the demo running in D3D while I was looking
for a place to buy the game.

You will need the 'cpu patch' also on a fast machine.

ok, any hints where to get these patches?  I would like to try these older
games I keep reading about but they will not run on my xp machine, even with
an older duron 750 processor and an Nvidia g-force 2 card

If you are using NTFS instead of Fat disk partitions, you will need to
enable ..er..fast writes.. I think it is.

See Alison Hine's web site for details.

Just for the record..the setting you usually need to check for under XP when using NTFS is "allow
indexing on this drive/folder"
