So, which is best? F1RS or MGPRS2?

So, which is best? F1RS or MGPRS2?

Hello, I've seen alot of good and alot of bad things writtem about both F1RS
and MGPRS2, so now I'm confused. Which one is it worth buying for a season of
good modern F1 racing, regardless of computer power?

I don't doubt Mika deserved those two victory's as the last 2 races this year.
Schumacher deserved the championship!

Those who already own F1RS don't need to buy the new one. There's so many
good add-ons available for F1RS on the net that still keep the game up to
date.

Yeah, the new version has that career-mode and the retro mode, but hey,
don't we all have GPL already?

Besides, the "old" game will be available for a much cheaper price, so I'd
recommend F1RS for now.

But the new version is a much better simulation. I haven't taken F1RS off the
shelf since I got MGP (and GPL and CMR).

MGP is a very a big step forward. The car physics are so improved that it
doesn't even feel similiar to F1RS and this is the most important reason to
go with MGP. Graphics, sound, frame rate, menu speed, telemetry, accuracy,
are also better in MGP. A game service feature for TCP/IP racing is coming
soon too. There are already new car sets, sounds, and track sets available.
After finding some setups which I love, I can only describe MGP as
brilliant.

Where did you find the setups for MGRS2?

David,
Where did you hear about the TCP/IP racing feature. This is exactly what MGP
desperately needs. Great news :-)

Hi,

I had to choose today between Mgprs2 and CMR, but I took Mgprs2.
So I was wondering if you could tell me if CMR is a good game (worth
buying, etc) ?

I've got International Rally Championships, but that is not really good.

Thanks in advance!

Well, first off, let me state that I live in the US. I had to import my copy
of MGPRS2. I have F1RS also. I prefer Monaco over F1RS. I think every one
execpt for the fans of the F1 sport would like Monaco better, (there are no
Ferrari's or Damon Hill in Monaco). If you don't have F1RS get Monaco.

Jalo,
You can get all the F1 cars and teams with a couple of quick downloads.

Try these, and make sure to read the read me text. It states you will have
to adjust the gearing a little. I was redlining too early in 6th in the
Ferrari so I just had to make a small adjustment.

Look at Ubi's MGP site. http://www.monacoracing.com/english/  It will
probably be similiar to their game service they had for POD. It's a sort of
mini Game Zone or a VROC for MGP.  I am really looking forward to it too.

MGPRS is completely editable. Visit www.f1racingsim.com/f1rs2 and MGPRS2 can
be transformed into the real 1998 names, cars,***pits, teams etc in a few
minutes. OK?

CMR is really very much better than IRC (I always though that the RAC Rally
Championship was better than IRC anyway). CMR's physics are are much more realistic
and the graphics are much better. There's a load of life in this one and I can see
it'll take a long time to get half-way decent at it. To this end it has a Rally
school which takes you through the basics of rally car racing complete with use of
the handbrake. The game has loads of arcade features that you have to ignore and
you have to get hold of various cheat codes to do all of the tracks (you can get
these from Keith Quinton's site) and all of the cars. This is rather irritating but
I've found I can live with it. There are one or two other iffy features - like you
can drive through bushes as if they weren't there - but then in GPL you can do the
same with the people - so I suppose that the total realism of all off track
features is a bit much to ask for and if you're off-track then you're not getting
the good times. There are some car setup options tyres, steering, brake balance and
a few others (about the same number that IRC has) but not the full gambit like in
GPL, MGP or Viper. Overall, though I've only played CMR a little bit since I got it
- I've been concentrating on GPL, Viper Racing Demo and MGPRS2. And with TOCA2,
Viper Racing Full Version and PSCR about to be released I don't think that
situation is going to change. Still, if you're into Rally, this is the best
simulation available.
