There seems to be a consistent problem here in the US - if a racing
game doesn't say NASCAR on it, or if it takes more than a little bit of
work to be competitive, only 10K-20K diehard American sim fans will buy
it.  Unfortunately, this will probably keep much of the future sims off
US store shelves.  Thank goodness for Interact and Computermate for
their European software sales to us (and Papyrus, for GPL) !!!

It was a big marketing mistake is why I think it didn't sell shit in
the states.  There was about a 1 year delay before it was released
here in the US. That is completely ridiculous if you ask me. A Year
old game released at full price here probably turned a lot of people
off.  Same with F1rs2. Maybe not a year like the first one but still
way too long.  Shelf life of a computer game is maybe a month or 2
here unless it is an extrordinary game put out by some big company
that always has stuff in a certain section of the pc store (ie
Microsoft, Sierra, etc.

How much money do you think Ubi lost because of the delays (for
whatever reason?, Tobacco, *** ads is what I heard way back when.
By the time it finally made it to our shores, There were a lot of
"high end" brand new games out.

What was the real reason for the long delays in the release here?
anyone know? I'm talking about f1rs1 and mgprs2.

LOL, it was in the org line, and I assumed he's working in a store that
sells sauna equipment. SAUNALAHDEN -> Sauna Laden, German for Sauna Store.

Yeah....MGPRS2 was all over the goddamn place in Montreal- an HOUR
from the USA- last March.

Is MGPRS2 even here yet?? I would think that, provided Ubi was whining
about sales in the USA, they'd get off their fundaments and release
the damn game EVERYWHERE.

There is something goofy, or technical about cross
Ocean products.  You'd think Ubi would have a
fairly robust Distrubution network, especially for the
states, don't they also produce N64 and Playstation
titles?   DiD had a terrible time getting proper
distribution of EF2000, had to rerelease the sim as
a new product(great 3d upgrades) to get it in the
mass market channels here in the States.
But if F1rs did go down the toilet over here, then
Ubi might be hesitant to throw marketing money
away....Now if they teamed up with Eidos and
produced my pet project...it would sell like
hotcakes...
  "Laura Croft drives Formula1....crazy"
Of course, we'd need to "modify" the
***pit due to certain anato...certain physical
features....:)

I saw it in Electronics Boutique (eastern Pennsylvania) for the first
time this Friday... $44.95.
I'll wait about 3 weeks and get it when it's marked down to 10 bucks.

The high street store called 'GAME'
they are everywhere but I used the one in Southport
I do not know if they have a mail order division
I think the free copy of f1rs is a hang over from when mgprs2 was full
price, only a few copies seem to have the sticker on the box anymore

ordering.

Wasn't that a strange marketing decision ?  If you bought the
new, improved version you could get the inferior previous version
free.  Why would you want it ?

Picked it up at EB here in C***te for $34.95.  They got F1RS several
months before I saw it anywhere else last year.

Haven't played it yet, picked up SBK for $30 at the same time and can't stop
playing that :-)
