N2 Difficulties

After royally screwing my computer up with video card/driver/operator
incompatibility, I was forced to "reset my rig to it's original
configuration, which wiped away all software I had installed since it's
purchase......and now I cannot get N2 to play at all. It installs normally,
and I make sure that I disable the virusscan and screen saver so that they
are not running in the background, and delete uvconfig from the n2
folder...this has worked in the past and allowed me to run from Windows, but
not this time. anyone know how i can check for programs running in the
background that could be causing problems? When I doubleclick the n2 icon, 1
of 2 things will happen...abort, retry, fail error message, or several lines
of white text on black screen fading to all black screen, and my monitor
goes to standby mode.Ctrl/alt/dlt allows me to end-task the program and get
back to my desktop, but I wanna race, dammit! The prviously mentioned video
card /driver problem cropped up when I installed my new Thriller for GPL and
found it to be incompatible w/my Winmodem...while reinstalling my original
vid card the computer refused to load Windows completely and would only go
to safe mode...hence the total reconfiguration. To recap, i have GPL that
runs but looks like hell, and I have N2 which would work and look fine if I
could only get it to run.......HELP!!!!                 TIA, Ed

Disregard previous post - I forgot to close all programs during the install
process, I've got n2 and the BGN pack up and running.....YAY!!

Welcome to Windows :)

This is one of the reasons I'm such a proponent of imaging software,
such as PowerQuests Drive Image or Ghost (yuk).

Set up the drive perfectly, with all the normal software you run and all
the updates you can find, then image that puppy.

Put the image, along with the software necessary to re-write the image
to the drive, and burn it to a bootable CD.

Takes me about 60 minutes to reinstall and re-create an 8 gig drive
that's nearly full :)
