The curse of GPL

The curse of GPL

Hello,

   After one week with GPL:

1) I have no social life whatsoever.
2) My boss is probably wondering why I left early on Friday afternoon.
3) My bank balance is hiding in fear because:
  a) Bought some books on GP racing/history.
  b) Bought a new comfy chair for racing in.
  c) Looking to buy the CH pedals, to replace my Logitech's.

People warned me that GPL "is a way of life" but I didn't listen.

I'm really warming to the graphics of GPL. Some people say it's stark; I
say it's very easy on the eyes. But of course, the physics is the thing
which keeps me enthralled. It's been frustrating at times, this steep
learning curve, but totally absorbing. The best things in life reward you
proportionally with what you put into them. :)

By the way, I've only been training at two tracks, Monza and the Glen. Do
you think this is wise, or should I train at all the tracks?

Bendito;

Personally, I'd say: try *all* the cars at *all* the tracks. The GPL
experience isn't just Monza and the Glen. Spa is a fairly easy circuit
to learn, and is great fun (hint: Eagle). And of course, GPL wouldn't
be GPL without the Ring!

the nurburgring track,  if you're really mental you can go to germany

It's the menace that's destroying my GPLRank position.  :-)

The greatest real life track (and GPL's) ever made.  The great ones of
yesteryear have either won there, or almost lost their lives (Lauda)

Btw if you havent seen G. Huttu going around Ring stop right now
everything...yes put her *** away and immediiatly download and
watch that in action. I decided about 40 turns in that if I ever had a
chance to ride in a Tank 5 blocks with G. Huttu I would respectively
turn it down...if he drivers 5/10th as crazy as that replay...my
condolences to anyone unfortunate enough to be riding with him on a
mountain road in a semi fast car...they will heave all of their lunch.

Truly inspirational....

Thanks for the tip- maybe I'll catch some kind of clue as to how to go
faster here.  I'm ready to try anything at this point.

GPL is the greatest thing EVER to happen :-) -get yourself to rouen and
Zandvoort  (and of course the ring). These tracks will really get you used
to the game.
Have you raced online yet?- If not goto  www.vroc.net and get online!!!

I think most people who play GPL have the sam reaction as you do.
On the tracks I think the best to start on are Monza and Silverstone. But Spa
is grreat once you learn the circiut (otherwise you just have VERY high speed
crashes).
Zandvoort is actually the most fun as you spend mosr of the lap continously
slding and drifting the car - bit it is hard to finsih a race!

Someone stated that at Spa it's all about exit speed.
But you should keep the direction of the exit also in mind :-)
(been there, done that, ...)

No, it's REAL easy to finish a race.  It's hard to finish WELL... :)

Nonsense - Zandvoort is the easiest course in GPL to finish a race
apart from the Nurburgring.  On pro level my race is usually finished by
the first lap at Zandvoort.  :-)
