Indycar2 Strategy Guide....

by Matthew Lewi » Tue, 21 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I remember reading in my Lee Buchanon Official Nascar Racing Strategies
& Secrets Book (!) that there was to be an Indycar2 Strategy Guide to be
released in March 1996!!!  Was it?  I have never seen one.  Is there one
in the works, perhaps?  I still want one, and would appreciate any
information on this subject.  Thanks.

Please email and post responses.

Well, I believe I have answered my own question.  I found this on the
Simracing News website (http://members.aol.com/simracing/index.htm).  I
am quoting this (hope it's legal to post this...):

"Good Reading...
Steve Smith, former editor of Car & Driver Magazine, has just finished a
60,000-word manuscript for a new ICR2
strategy guide. Steve and Papyrus are working on getting the book
published right away, and we'll report when
you can pick up a copy. As Steve put it: "Who would have thought there
are 60K words to say about_any_computer sim?"...Well, I'll bet I can add
a few more: "It's about time!!"<g>"

Steve Smith just completed it and the CD and forwarded them to Papy.

Hi,

does anybody have any more info on this topic?
Will the guide ever be released (ICR2 is no longer supported by
papyrus)?

Maybe the author or someone at papyrus could provide some info.

thanks in advance,

Joachim Boeddeker

Indycar2 Strategy Guide....

The manuscript is the property of Sierra/Papyrus, and will be shelved
for an indefinate period (read: it's history, folks).  This is due partly
to
the Papyrus/Indy license that's to expire at year's end.

Too bad...Would have been a nice addition to ICR2 (and my desktop).

Best Regards,

I found in CompUSA a add-on pack (so-to-speak) called Top Speed.  It is a
CD and is distributed by Head Games out of Minneapolis.  It has tools for
ICR, ICR2, N1, N2 and GP2.  It isn't a strat. guide, but in lieu of what
is available (nothing) this will suffice.
