I have played it on a dx4 100 with 16Mb ram and a 14.400Kbs modem,
with all the graphics turned off, in vga mode and the framerates set
at around 12fps, and there was still some lag also? (the other pc I
was linked to was faster and gp2 runs at the speed of the slowest pc!)
I have also linked via modem on a k6 200 (clocked to 225) with 32Mb SD
ram and a 33.6kbs modem, and it was not much better, I still had most
of the graphics off, and was still in vga mode, and the framerates
were around 18fps? (The other pc was a p200 in these links with a
similar spec as mine)
It is also rather fiddly sometimes to get both pc's linked as gp2 does
not like any other com port than com2? (using the comsetup file from
the gp2 cd can help here into fooling gp2 into thinking you are using
com2, even when you are not).
Also both gp2 installations need to be the same, eg:- same f1gstate
f1system files, etc. And if any patches/updates/editors have been
used, they need to have been used on *both* pc's, and sometimes even
in the same order!!!!
To speed things up use the gp2 command "gp2 use16550" which forces gp2
to use the faster com port setting, it uses the old 8250 setting by
default. It is also adviceable to turn *off* any error detection or
compression features of your modem, as gp2 carries out these functions
itself.
Good luck......

I would recommend a serious pentium PC,and a 56.6 modem
