I have a 150 and I use VGA in GP2, am I alone? It really flies though.

I ran VGA on a P133 until someone told me to lower the frame rate below
the suggested one - now I run in SVGA with most textures on at 16fps -
doesn't sound a lot, but is very playable. Once I had played in SVGA I
couldn't go back to VGA! Ugh!

>I have a 150 and I use VGA in GP2, am I alone? It really flies though.

I used to play in VGA with just about all detail/texture on (about
16fps).  I then switched most texture off and ran in SVGA (about
13fps). I`ve now switched almost all detail off (18.4 fps with
occupancy to spare).  I think it is much easier to drive like this.
Others say I am imagining it.

Nope, you're not. I also prefer a higher framerate with all graphics
on. VGA RULES!!!

I've a 486DX2/66 with 20MB and a Trident 8900D card and at 8fps get
average occupancies around 80%. Can anyone suggest what part of the
system could be slowing it down most? I'm thinking of getting a P100
and follow up with a new gfx card.

I also use VGA.  With all textures ON at the highest detail level (plus
most items visible in the mirrors), I get an estimate of >25.6 fps.

FWIW, my computer is a P133 with 256K cache, 16 megs memory, 1 meg PCI
Diamond Stealth SE video card.

I have a DX4-100  :(
So Yes, I use VGA also.

Can't we get a GP2 port to Alpha?????  :)

I use Vga as my P-66 can't get above 15fps in SVGA with no detail.  So I
run VGA with smoke, curbs, and track drawing in mirror and get and
estimate of over 25.6 but I set it at 21.3 to make sure it doesn't slow
down anywhere.  I think it's easier as my system would be crawling if I
was in SVGA.

Your not the only one in VGA. I have a P133 with a Matrox Millenium and I
also run in VGA. I have about all the details on except sky and can get a
frame rate at 21 or 25 with all detail. According to gp2log my video score
is one of the highest i've seen in this newsgroup being a 457 and my cpu
speed is 258. I hate running with a low frame rate or low detail in SVGA.
I'm not looking at the stuff around me when I'm in the car, but when it's
not there I miss it.

I have a P100 and I have been playing in VGA for a while now and it
gives a better sense of speed than in SVGA which was like driving in
molasses.  In SVGA with auto detail I was getting 100% processor occ.
just sitting on the grid! In VGA it's more like 60% or 70%.  I also do
not leave the smoke on because it really drags my machine down.

Thats right!
I used to had a P100, and I played it in VGA.
Now I have a P166, and with SVGA this thing really flies ...

Where did you buy this P100?  You need to send it back or get it
upgraded.  I have a AMD586/133 which is the equivelant of a P75 - P90.
I run with ALL details in SVGA and it is Smooth.
