NFS3 D3D or Glide?

by Vulcan S » Thu, 24 Sep 1998 04:00:00

I have a Voodoo2 card and personally I think native Glide support has
much better quality/speed than D3D. I am going to buy NFS3. Anyone
know if it use Glide natively?

I believe it does because you normally would not get the dash board
setting on a 8mb Voodoo2 card unless you switched it into D3D mode
from, I assume, Glide mode.  12mb V2 cards don't have this limitation
so I take it video memory is addressed differently under D3D.

I can't tell much visual difference between the two modes and
performance wise, the game stills screams.

I can't help with the identy, but have some requests for developers
that would help a great deal. GPolice has a box at launch time and
asks which one you want to use. I would appreciate it if this
was incorporated in all 3D games, which would help us to
ensure the latest driver is installed for that api.

I run NFS3 via an orchid 3dfx voodoo1 card, and nfs3 runs
smooth.
