Damn what a good track.. after much practice I managed a high 1:38..
but ofcourse the aliens are humiliating me again by doing 1:36 laps.
If you missed this one, download it at www.theuspits.com, the track is
a blast.. think of a mix between Mosport and Road Atlanta, with every
corner being a challenge.

For some reason though I can't race against the AI cars, fps varies
heavily between 36fps and 10-20 fps with major stutters.. online it's
perfect though. Weird.

I've been waiting for a long time for this one (the readme says the
guy worked on it 2-3 hours a day for 17 months) and it definately was
worth it!

Try the download from this thread:

http://forum.racesim.net/showthread.php?s=ed58db280307fbb3ea7e32fda09...

(you may need to re-form that in your broswer if it wraps...)

I haven't tried it myself yet (was feeling in a brain-dead mood last
night, so relaxed with NFS: PU instead), but it looks like it should
help....

Thanks Ian, I have that fix installed, it removed the pit building and
the trucks at the start. Without this fix I even had a drop in fps in
training mode, this fix gives me back my beloved 36fps.
But the AI stutter is everywhere on the circuit, 5 seconds 36fps, 5
seconds major stutter, etc.
I think it must be a problem of the track itself.. -all- other tracks
give me 36fps with 20 AI on, even the Bremgarten Hires version.

Tremblant was not build with the GPLEA tools but with another editor.
The invisible borders are probably also due to this. When you slide
off the road (as Henrie would say 'for testing purposes only' :) and
you want to drive back on the track, you hit these weird invisible
borders.

I don't know how much work it would be to extract the trackdata from
this track and to rebuild it in the GPLEA editor, but it would sure be
nice if this was possible..

Thanks Andre! And thanks also to Gilles!!
The tracks is very interesting and beautiful! At least
in the training mode fps' were 36 without the patch.

Even more impressive...

What setup do you use? I was trying hard for the past two days
and couldn't get even in 1:39.

I am running without problems at Celeron 7xx, GeForce 2MX with ifx
installed.
Yes, I second it:)

Default setup is quite good, only the gearing is wrong, easy to adjust
that.

Have you tried racing against 20AI cars? P3 866 gf2 gts here, running
in 1280res.

Is it St. Jovite or Mt. Tremblant....are we talking two different tracks or
the two names for one track.  I am confused.

Tom

PS:  If someone has Mark Beckman's email address could they send it to me.
I've been trying to find this guy for two months.....I've retextured his
USGP 1960 Riverside track but need him to fix a couple things in the
geometry......couldn't find him.

Near the little town of St. Jovite (a couple hours north of Montreal) is the
ski resort of Mt. Tremblant, that's the area the track was built (designed
by Bruce Mclaren BTW).  I think the circuit's actually called Mt. Tremblant,
but if you want to find it on a map it's address is St. Jovite     Confused?

Jim Russell used to have a school there, but their website is gone.

As far as I can tell the Russell school has been succeeded by the Autosport
Basi school. More information is available at
http://www.racingschools.ca/default.htm but the school seems to have moved
to St Eustace.

There is an excellent writeup of the Mt Tremblant track in this BMW club
posting

Wait, I read a couple of days ago that Mt.Tremblant was designed by
the same guy who designed Mosport.. I found that funny because
Tremblant immediately reminded me of Mosport after the first lap.
I don't remember the guys name but it was not Mclaren..

both names.

Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway.  Home of the "Honda Grand Prix featuring the

or..the Speedway at C***te also known as Lowes Speedway IF the sponsor

Oops I haven't thought of using default one ;>
19 AI cars in 1024. Detail slider is around 30% probably

I guess I won't have the stuttering either when I go back to those
settings, 1280res now, bias somewhere on 60-70% and lots-a-16bit
textures installed. It's just that Tremblant seems to use much more
fps compared to other tracks, while some other tracks are graphically
much better. I think this is due to the fact that Tremblant was not
designed with the GPLEA tools, also causing those weird invisible
barriers.
