Pushing hard through that wriggly section (technical term :-) has to be
one of the best GPL experiences I've had so far. I thought Laguna and Mid
Ohio would give me the biggest kicks but, probably because of the
lower/slower quality graphics in LS/MO, so far it's IMS and Sears that
have given me most bang for my converter buck.

I agree 100%!!  IMS and the New Sears, Graphically, are fantastic
compared to all the other tracks.

No doubt the esses at Sears Point give new definition to weight transfer<g>,
but if you haven't tried the enhanced version of Long Beach or Mid Ohio you
are really missing out. See Alison's sight for details. They look almost as
good as the original GPL tracks.

Would that be the old layout or the Sears 98 layout?

I am drooling over what could be a brilliant (but probably an economic
disaster!!) historical Indy sim that is set in 1964/65/66.....when the
roadsters and the rear-engined cars mixed it.
(Sigh!)

Ninety-eight, Andre.  It states that on the "cover".

There are 2 Sears tracks for the converter Bruce, one with the old
layout and one with the layout from 98. I just wondered which version
he was talking about.
I prefer the old layout by the way, beautiful track.

I did the enhanced gfx thing, but I think LS and MO need the rendition
version which I don't have. Must check Alison's page in case my memory's
failing me.

Andrew McP... 2 copies of ICR2, neither the right one :-)

98. Didn't realise the N2 version was different. I like the N3 graphics
anyway so whatever happens I'll probably stick with 98.

My only problem with GPL Sears is the AI weaving all over place
through turn one.  It's actually a very quick turn and this
bizarre AI behaviour makes it quite tricky.

It's a shame the N2 version wasn't as good graphically and the 98 track.
I do love that carousel<sp>.

Well, you shouldn't have, the "old" Sears is one of my fav tracks, it's
one of those that gives me the most troubles in the TPTCC, but I still
like it a lot :-)

The "new" one sucks

fer once I agree with Uncle Goy.  The new sears takes out the only
two places I stood a chance of overtaking.  With the straightend back
dogleg I loose my only two good areas and EXPOSE my weaknesses which is
the EXIT of the esses that turn into the last straight.

(ps, I have a track program from a CART race in Portland a few years
ago.  They include drawings that are aimed at Nascar that would take out
all the curves from the front of the course to the backside and greatly
widens the arc of the last turn,  So they would be left with a giant
Dover in Reverse)

It is a bit of a pain, but at least it's predictable. T1 looks like two or
three little turns (which is what confuses the AI I suspect) but you can
treat it as one long turn.
