Great Idea Ronald!! I think I will give it a whirl? Btw: Where &
how do you make the three 67season bat files for 67season.ini?
Tia......Thom_j.

| After adding maybe the 10th user made track I was getting sick of clicking
| through so many tracks (papy, use a scrolled list for track selection in
| GPL2! yeah, right! ;)
|
| As a solution I have three bat-files copying different 67season.ini files
| into the seasons directory. Of course, I have to decide what tracks I want
| to see (orig, oval or others) before I start GPL.

Hmm, that's quite simple to do, but hard to describe... ;)

Go into the 'seasons' directory in your GPL directory. Create
3 copies of the existing 67season.ini, e.g.

orig_67season.ini
conv_67season.ini
oval_67season.ini

and edit them to only contain the appropriate tracks. I put all
converted road tracks into the conv file. Make sure to change
the numEvents variable on line 4 to the correct number of tracks
and that the numbering of the events [Event1]is correct, too.

Now create 3 bat-files, e.g.

origseason.bat
convseason.bat
ovalseason.bat

containing nothing more than two lines, e.g. for origseason.bat

cp orig_6~1.ini 67season.ini

Make sure to find the correct short file names in a dos box,
orig_67season.ini -> orig_6~1.ini (stupid dos ;)

Now you can put links to the bat-files on your desktop.

Have fun! (btw, I don't accept responsibility for formated
harddrives or exploding monitors... ;)

Ronald, thanks for yoyur clear explanation!
One question though: Does your method corrupt the player.ini?
Or more technically: Is 67season.ini's first 11 items used
to calculate the player.ini? It would be bad for example for
sending it to GPLRank...

The 67season.ini only contains the available tracks.
The file player.ini is updated with your personal lap times.
But I'm not sure if lap times of tracks are removed from it
just because they are not in the current season file anymore.

Anybody know?
