        OK, I'm racing at Michigan, coming off turn 4. Someone (I think it
        was Gordon), punted me and I spun into the pits. OK fine, I'm
        sliding backwards through the pits at 150 mph. After I got
        straightened out and rolling again, I got black flagged for
        being over 80 mph in the pits. Anyone else seen this? I realize this
        might be a tough one to fix.

I had the exact same thing happen to me in NASCAR at Michigan.  I was congratulating myself for
such a terrific job of not destroying my car when the black flag came out.

This one happened to me in NASCAR.  I saw a real NASCAR race where the
drivers drove through the pits to avoid an accident.  They were not
black-flagged as it was wiser to avoid further harm, than speeding
through the pits.

Similar also happened in an F1 race when Prost skipped a chicane in order to avoid Brundle(?) who
was out of control and spinning toward him. He lost a couple of places AND was handed a 10 second
stop-go for skipping the chicane.

Of course he was leading the championship at the time so that means it's "open season" for
dishing out any kind of penalty....

It is.  The game isn't quite capable of making human judgements, and even
the humans don't get it right all the time.  :)
