Aren't most of the people running FD/FG running in leagues or 'clubs' anyway?
Meaning, you'd be running on a password-protected private server.  Now if you
have people in the CLUB joining in F1's, then you have bigger problems... :-)

Running passworded servers is kind of a waste of time if you're trying to
get new people to try racing with a new chassis. I think this is a real
problem
for leagues that are constantly trying to bring new guys in.
In F3 it was nice to just host open races where everyone was forced into
an F3 car. I'm sure a lot of guys where introduced to the fun of running
F3's
in this manner.

I joined a couple of F2 and F3 races because of invites.  The F2 group was
using my server, so they thought they should offer a spot...<g>  But, I don't
like the F2 and F3 races as much.  I've discovered that I'm farther off the
pace than in F1.  For me, going around the track by myself, and MUCH SLOWER
than F1 just isn't my idea of a fun thing to do.
