Well, I'm happy about the little steps in improving the immersion factor, too.
Having driven the ViperRacing demo suddenly makes GPL, MGPRS a lot less, dare
I say it, realistic. Not the car physics, just having the car fight you through
the wheel and giving additional feedback about grip or loss of it, is a great
thing. Of course, there are good and bad examples of FF, but ViperRacing shows
what's possible with currently available devices...

BTW, the MS FF wheel is the most rugged and stable wheel I ever owned and very
good even withouth FF effects. Never tried a TSW though...

Since you posted as a subject something related to Star Wars, I need to
answer you back, my lord... ;-)

There is good and bad points for both here. Let me list them...

Pro-FF :

- Well it's still Force Feedback. With the new releases (Viper Racing, Colin
McRae Rally, etc..) the quality of the feedback has been very good. It's
more than just bumps and grins. You can start to feel the car now under
loading/unloading into the corners...

Con-FF :

- Force-Feedback is still young.  Papyrus hasn't started any title with it,
so it won't really start until they do.  The quality is also not really
here.   Most of the people understand that you can't have good
Force-Feedback wheels for 200$.  They are made from plastic parts made in
Taiwan mostly ;)

Pro-normal wheels.

- Normal wheels have the advantage to be here since ages... the quality of
potentiometers/spring/etc  has increased since the early ages of the
Thrustmaster T1.  For the price of a FF wheel you can buy a hand-made,
quality wheel (the TSW2) with a lifetime guarantee.

Con-normal wheels :

-  It's the opposite of FF wheels.. they aren't Force Feedback ;)

Let's hope that helps...  And remember..

The Force will be with you, always...

Hey Francois, could you please pick me up a TSW2 for $230 CDN (cost of LFFBW
I just returned). If you can I'll be your best buddy for awhile ;-)))

Should crematoriums give discounts for burn victims?
If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?
If most car accidents occur within five miles of home, why doesn't
everyone just move 10 miles away?

My personal suggestion for a TM non-FF wheel would be the Super Sport
over the NASCAR Pro (unless you really must have a shifter -- or you
have a DOS based game which will not support separate axes for the
pedals -- then the Pro).

As to whether FF over non-FF...  It seems that with all FF wheels
there are issues with some of them not working with some DOS-only games
(period, I am not talking about Force Feedback support).  For the
programs that they will work with, you get the best of both worlds.  I
am hoping that the better FF manufacturers will continue to work with
their drivers and have fixes for some of the programs that won't work.
But, I wouldn't count on it.  Legacy support is quickly becoming a
legacy itself.

No not dreaming just following up on your post were you said you could get a

Should crematoriums give discounts for burn victims?
