I saw some of this too.

I was waiting for cars to 'get going', but they eventually told me to pass.
My spotter never once told me to go around them, and I know for a fact they
should have been in front of me because I had just left the pits.

It didn't alter the outcome because I think it wsa mainly lapped cars, but
it was confusing as hell sometimes.

I wonder if this wasn't a bug in single file restarts ?

Lap 3 going into turn 3 somebody I'm not familiar with ran over me. Didn't
appear to slow or attempt to miss. I don't have replay John but should be lap
3.

I'm pretty sure that would be me you're talking about. Hopefully I get
a chance to defend myself. I'm not quite sure what happened there.
From my perspective, we were both slowing down for the turn, when all
of a sudden you were RIGHT in front of me. I'm wondering if there was
a lag issue or something, because it really took me by surprise.
Unfortunately, I didn't handle that situation well, with obvious
results. I would have apologized, but with my setup I really don't
have convenient access to the keyboard. Hopefully you'll accept my
apology at this point.

Odd thing is that the game didn't count an incident against me.
Strange...

One other point about those fixed setups ... Do not lower the wheel lock
more than 1 or 2 clicks.

Lowering the wheel lock from what any setup was designed with, will make it
more twitchy in addition to cooking the tires.  If you cannot turn a fixed
setup then work on a different line.

If your not playing with the wheel lock at all, and you still cannot hold
the car when braking or turning or both, up the wheel lock.

With any setup, and I think this comes from N2002 using the GPL engine, the
higher the wheel lock the better control you'll have with the brakes.  The
disadvantage is the car will be harder to turn but for inexperienced
drivers, try upping the setting until you get comfortable with the car.

I don't adjust *anything* on the setups, preferring instead to take the
"fixed setup" thing to heart.  I don't think I do too badly if I can
manage to stay out of everyone else's carp...

always.

I was behind Jan and saw him smoke the left front braking so I was going under
him. Of course seeing that I checked my mirror and saw you about 20 car lengths
back. Next I knew I got slammed and around I went.

Of course. But please realize that autochat is important for merging, stating
your intentions (pass low etc) so get that keyboard closer. Most RASCAR'ers
will quickly say sorry...or damn...something anything. I have always apologized
for my mistakes ASAP....doesnt really help the one I hit but I make it clear
that I AM sorry and it was not intentional.

I watched the replay last night from both our perspectives, and it
sure makes me look bad... :) Watching the replay from my***pit, I
noticed Jan smoking, but I never saw that during the race. That tells
me that I must have been distracted, and then didn't respond properly
to your move. (sigh)

Yeah, I guess I need to figure out a different setup. Hopefully next
race will be cleaner.

LOL!

I can't be the only one wondering how THIS one is going to go over :)

I've already practiced 1000 laps there since Saturday.  Oddly, my Lap times
have NOT improved much.  Damn!

The key to Birstol is staying out of accidents.

Yup, find a hole and cruise.  Chances are, however, that EVERYONE will
probably be involved in at least 1 incident this Sat., so just prepare
yourself for it and don't get to ticked off when it happens.  Gonna be
fun though.
