Hi Steve,

incidentally I'm the maintainer of the racer linux FAQ, and of rather
late and also inoffically, of the Linux Racer version. You can
download a precompiled binary for version 0.4.7 including all the
required datafiles from my home page at

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Let me know how it goes and if you get racer to run (make sure you
read the FAQ and the included README.linux). I'd be glad to hear how
it goes.

and yes, I agree this sim looks very very promising.
