You can start racing half way through the pack without qualifying.
During the warm up lap pass all the other racers until you are up
with the pace car.  Ignore the "STAY BEHIND" message.  Move
over to the right (left at Watkins Glen) so the car in position 2 is
directly behind you.  Slowly drift back to until the "STAY BEHIND"
message disappers keeping the car in position 2 behind you.  
You have now passed half of the pack.  When the green flag
drops pass the other half and win the race.

And what's fun about that.

Here's another way to win a race. Race with Damage OFF and crash out
every AI. This is great, sometimes it can be hard to win nevertheless,
but it's great fun. And NASCAR really comes into its own when you race
with zero opponents.

Yeah, eat brown stuff!
