Nascar 1999 Free at Best Buy?

by Robert Eberhard » Fri, 20 Nov 1998 04:00:00

I purchased Nascar 1999 last night at Best Buy since there is a rebate
coupon on the front of the box good for the entire purchase price up to
$49.99 (minus tax). Inside the coupon it says to send in any Sports CD
listed on the front of the coupon. Well the front of the coupon doesn't have
a list, but inside it lists the companies that the CD must be from. Since
Electronic Arts is one of them I am thinking of sending in my original Need
For Speed disk to get back my 44.95. It is limited to one rebate per
household and the coupon was on a couple of other different Sierra games as
well. If I can actually get my entire purchase price back, it was a
no-brainer to get it. Does anyone have any experiences yet with the rebate?

That's what I did with GPL!

Then I went out to my local used computer store and bought a copy of LinksLS
on CD for a $1.00, which I mailed back to Sierra/Papyrus

We'll see in 8 - 10 weeks ?!?!?!

I thought the same, too, at first.  AFter the 4th read I realized it
said "PURCHASE any product on the front...", of course nothing is listed,
but it's ATTACHED to the box, so they're saying "buy N99, get the rebate."

Personally I'm skeptical.  My trade rags have lamented for a LONG time
about companies' rebate policies (or lack of their execution!).  I bought a
scanner several months ago that had a $30 rebate I've never seen.  I, too
bought N99 - even on Sierra's site (somewhere) they mention a $20 rebate for
N2 owners.  I got it for the new tracks and the trucks.  Anxiously awaiting
N2000 (or N3 or whatever they're gonna call it).

I've been doing pretty good with my rebates. Out of the 8 I have sent in
for, my memory is the only one I didn't get back ($40). I'll send it in and
hope for the best.

Everyone,

The deal with the rebate is( i called and spoke with a rep ) you buy NASCAR
99 and send in a sports title from any of thease companies:

Access
EA
GT
Acclaim
Edios
Microsoft

If you are unaware of a certain title they have a list and can tell you over
the phone. If you read the fine print ...it also says it will refund you up
too $49.99 US and $59.99 canada. All you have too do is send in the cd of
the old game with your receipt of the new purchase. You dont even have too
send in the box..pretty cool. But their is a catch..................they
will giveyou a refund on the price of the game and not what you paid in
tax!!
Overall a great deal.

They will refund the *purchase* price, up to the maximum stated.  You get
back only what you paid (minus taxes) so the deal is the same in both
countries.

Mike and RAS,

Can I send in a Sierra Nascar 1 CD (or a EA Road Rash CD) , along with the
coupon and the receipt for N99 and get the rebate? I really hate to give up
my N2 disk !

Your question was answered when you quoted the previous poster's text.

The quote:

In other words...No, you can not send in N1. It is a Sierra title and only a
disc from those 5 companies that you quoted can be sent in for the rebate.

Errr, not to be picky but...

His Nascar Racing is maybe not from Sierra ;-)

If I remember it was published by *** Interactive (as for IndyCar Racing
2 also before Sierra bought them).  So I don't think he would be able since
VI isn't in that list ;)

I don't want to sound like an idiot but I have originally heard there was
some type of rebate for "other" Sierra titles (e.g. N1 or N2) BUT I can't
understand the logic of sending in other companies' game titles?

I enjoy n99 but I don't like the fact that I don't get a break for upgrading
to N99 !

Getting in on the end of this thread.  Which disk are you referring to?

The used CD-ROM sports game*  that you have to send in with the UPC code from
the box, the sales receipt and the rebate coupon to get the purchase price,
less taxes, up to $49.99 in US dollars and $59.99 Canadian dollars.

The only companies that the used CD-ROM sports game can come from are:

Access
EA
GT
Acclaim
Edios
Microsoft

Not Sierra, not Papyrus, not Accolade, et al., just from the 5 companies listed
above.

Please allow 8-10 weeks for processing.

Offer good between 10/1/98 and 1/31/99.

Any other questions???  LOL

Well, that's the deal their offering ... you must send in a CD from a
competitor (from that list). I'm getting the full purchase price of Viper
Racing back and sending in some old sports game I don't want anymore.
