Hi guys (and girls) . . .
I was wondering if any of you actually use the Performance Data Feature in
GP2.
If you do, what's the best way to use it. I know it's all explained in the
manual but the manual sucks.
Thanks. Please email me.

The manual is o.k. for general questions on car setup or physics, but
it really sucks as a manual for a game or sim. I want a
screen-by-screen guide through the game - nothing unusual, actually.
Anyway, here are the perf. data features I use most frequently:
-All wheelspin values: good for adjusting braking bias. When all four
curves are the same, you have the ideal bias concerning tire wear etc.
If the red and blue line show negative peaks (valleys? gorges?),
chances are you'll spin while breaking and waste your rear tires. I
prefer front wheels overbreaking a little, as this evens out tire wear
and gives the car more stability.
-All ride heights: when adding packers, this tells you when it's
enough. Not too helpful, since you can get the same information
watching the plank wear indicator while driving.
-Gear, speed, RPM, etc.: Are the gear change steps evenly distributed?
(I'm driving automatic transm., I confess.) Does the engine reach
15000 RPM at the end of the straight in 6th gear?
-All suspension travel values: Most important part, I'd say! If you
add packers on a high speed course, say Hock or Monza, see that all
the lines level on zero when you change gear from 4th to 5th. This
means the car now rides at it's lowest. Gains a lot of max speed. But
make sure you get your suspension back when going though curves, or
you'll spin.
If you need nore detailed explanations, feel free to ask.
