Correct, this is what the article says (underlining is mine):
The graphics chipmaker says the GeForce Titanium family will offer twice the
performance __for a given price__

Does anyone know when these cards will be available?

Agreed !
First, congrats to T.P for a header that was bound for endless discussion.:)
That "double" the speed line doesnt compare G3 to G3 500 Ti though.
 My specs are the following:
P3 1gig coppermine
VC820 mobo
256 megs Samsung pc800 ramdac
Asus G3 (V8200)
That score sounded too low to me as well. My score on the 12.9x drivers was
4813. And using Det4(21.whatever) scored me up to 5347. I'm not sure how
thrilled i am about the stability of the first run of Det4 though. I noticed
a few anomalies during 3Dmark2001.(i.e. the fog in the flying dragon test
wasnt right). I have had no problems with graphics in any of my usual
sims/games though, so Det4 stays.
Those numbers were generated without any overclocking, and almost no
fiddling with settings.(i killed v-synch if i remember right). Just my  $.02
though, thanks fer listening.

Ahhh marketing...does anyone find it interesting that the Titanium boards
are announced mere days before the release the of Radeon 8500?  As far as
the scores in the madonion:  My concern is a custom set of drivers built to
gain the  greatest score from the 2001 test.
Lets wait til a suite of games(preferably sims) has been benchmarked.

P4 1.7 PC800 memory and Elsa 920 GF3. The new 21.81 drivers gave a
3dMark2001 score of 6600 up from 5500 with the 12.41 drivers. I've gone back
to 12.41 because the 21.81 one's were unstable. Elsa are about to release
their own 21.81 version soon.

Another 'benchmark' I can pose is Rallychampionship, you know the one called
Mobil rally Championship in the UK. Anyway with the latest patch it gives a
frame counter, I'm hitting 69/70 mid stage, it drops a bit at the start
though. This is 1024*768*32.

Carol.....

I would agree that's way too low of a score for a GF3 in 3DM01...  Did
the new card get assigned the same IRQ as the old one?  Something's
different....and your GF3 should have been getting in the high
4000's.....unless you are running it on something less than a 1.0 Ghz
"anything".....  I get 4200's with a GF2 on a P3-800......so your score
is not in line with what that card/system should have been getting.

Your new score is a little low, too....but you probably don't have your
system settings tweaked properly to run 3DM01......which doesn't
matter....just as long as you keep them consistent from test run to test
run.

Regards,

Tom

PS:  Don't forget to turn your LOD to +3 when you run 3DM01...or your
test scores will vary widely!

Hang on a minute, how can anyone be guessing at what my score should be,
when no one knows what spec it is. The fact is that the machine I quoted
from is an Intel engineering machine used for P4 testing. All I said was the
score 3dmark gave me with an original gf3 card and a Titanium gf3, and
without any change to the drivers or hardware. Just giving my figures as I
found them as you say in a consistent enviroment. My use for these machines
is not to push them to the edge of performance but to use them as test beds
for sim developement for latest hardware, so having max performance is not
key but percentage increase for similar setups.

Carol...

Most of us who regularly use the 3DM01 benchmark are "professional"
members of their website (we purchased the pro version of 3DM01).  That
doesn't mean a whole lot except that you can publish your test results
with system specs....and you can view all published results.  You can
sort those results ad infinitum by system specs and so forth.  Its
really of no consequence....except that you get a fairly good clue as to
what range of scores certain video cards get.....on middle of the road
to high-end computers.  You are correct, we don't know the specifics of
your system specs.....but when your score is lower than the "low end of
specs" posted at MadOnion......that's enough to make a "qualitative"
statement about your score....as we did.  It was also a safe assumption
that you were not running a P2 450 or something, if you are indeed "in
the biz" deep enough that Nvidia would be sending you free video cards
of their newest models, you know.

None of us attempted to make a "quantitative" statement about your
system or your 3DM01 score......I think you are being a bit
hypersensitive there, Ms. Bekker!

Tom

Considering a GF2GTS 64mb is still pretty much overkill with any cpu less
than 2ghz its pretty much a moot point
But thanks for the info
