I tried that. Before -- wheel at 2:00 to go straight. After -- wheel at
1:30, slight steering movements generate MAJOR tire movements. My solution
was to back linearity down to 90%, raise wheel lock, and recalibrate. The
only problem with recalibration (which is akin to re-centering the wheel in
a real car) is that it needs to be done to different degrees at each track.
A slider bar right next to the linearity setting would simplify that process
greatly.
<sigh>...here we go again...
I don't have a problem with the feel of the wheel. Even though the steering
pulls to the left, you don't SEE it on TV because the wheel is re-mounted an an
angle that makes it straight. I'd guess that the drivers STILL have to apply
the turning force to the right - you just can't see it. What I *do* think will
cause problems is running in close packs of traffic. I see it causing many
accidents because you can't be as precise while you're fighting the wheel.
Have you ever driven laps in GPL with damaged suspension? It's the same feel -
you have to hold the wheel off-center to go (sorta) straight. Not that easy.
