Hi!

It is a rare occasion when I can find a large enough block of time nestled
within my assorted obligations to actually involve myself in a decent-length
race.  There always seems to be a 2 year old child bouncing at my knee wanting
juice or a 27 year old wife interrupting with some inane gossipy irrelevancy
when I want to bolt up the wheel and pedals and go for a spin.  Lord knows I
can't turn anything up too far because the subwoofer makes it sound like there
actually is a car driving around my office from anywhere in the house.

It was real hot this holiday weekend here in New England.  Temps in the high
90s with ultra-high humidity.  Walking from my air conditioned office into the
rest of the house and back gave me a good sense of what it must feel like to be
pasteurized.  My spousal unit decided both yesterday and today to go to her
parents house with my daughter and spend the day swimming and eating BBQ burgers
and dogs.  This gave me a seemingly endless quantity of time to indulge myself
in compu-racing.

My favorite racing experience currently comes from SCGT.  I have a 21"
monitor right in front of my face and a MSFF wheel firmly attached to the giant
table I use for a desk. I also have revved's sounds for SCGT.  My car is a fully
strapped Panoz with about 930+HP  (with no cheats, thank you very much)  I have
an Altec Lansing Satellite/Sub system in front gathering its signal from an
SBLive! In the back, I have a little Radio Shack integrated stereo amp pushing
some 3-way KLH speakers, ear-level about 2 feet from the back of my head.  Since
nobody was here but me 'n' the dogs, I decided to turn up the volumes to
appropriate levels.

The sound was enough to give me adrenaline goosebumps.  I had it so loud I
couldn't even think about anything but the car.  I found myself utterly sucked
into the screen with the sound adding a sort of immersive effect I have never
really felt before.  I didn't have to check the tach because my chair was
vibrating along with the rpms so well I could shift by sound and feel.  What a
rush!  That 930+HP Panoz doesn't exactly loaf around the track either.  (I
shoulda raced Sebring or Hockenheim..)

When I was done with a nice, long race at Road Atlanta, I got up from my
chair and I was actually dizzy.  I walked out of my office and had the same kind
of feeling you get after being in the front row at a general admission heavy
metal concert and having to elbow belligerent, sweaty ***agers for 4 hours.  It
was a fantastic experience and I give a great share of the credit to revved for
his fantastic sounds.  They really come alive when cranked up.  I expected the
speakers to be as hot as a race engine when I was done!

Fun!!!

WOW!! I am blushing..

That sounds like a great way to spend the weekend! I am glad you
liked the sounds. I didn't like the original ones at all, and set out
to find a cure.. :)

I spent a lot of time trying to get the Panoz and other big bore cars
to sound right. I love the Panoz, and it's sounds, at Mosport, BTW.
Have fun, Dave and thanks for the compliment!
