No help is needed. You have a complete game; no patch was ever issued
for GP2 (good coding).

Pretty sloppy coding in fact, but the project was dumped so no patch
ever got made.

Fairs fair, there was not one feature of GP2 that was busted...
I think its the only game that I have played that NEVER crashed EVER.
For a game to not need a patch in this day and age is a remarkable
tribute to Geoff Crammonds ability...

I agree, the game was not perfect, I'd say bad support.

True, but it may also be that it's more self-contained than today's
games, as it does its own 3D-rendering in software and only works with
DOS-based controllers.

Most of the crashes in modern games are due to them having to work with
a vast array of 3D graphics cards / sound cards / controllers etc. and
their dodgy drivers.

M$ is not exactly blameless in this regard (how many versions of DirectX
are out there?).

That's why PlayStation games hardly ever crash (AFAIK) - the hardware is
much more tightly-specced and all configurations can be properly tested
in advance.

Well I'd say that the fact that you could never get a usable frame rate with
all features on with ANY hardware that was available at the time of it's
release,  much less the advertised recommended hardware,  was a major fault
that was never corrected.   In two weeks I should receive my new P3 550 with
TNT2 card and I'm hoping for the first time ever I'll actually be able to run
a race at Monaco with all features on and stay below 100%.
